Yah thank you buick. The WU was finally uploaded when I got home. It seems like the F@H console didn't upload it the first time because of some connectivity problem, but it auto-resume the upload after periods and finally picked it up.

On your XP1800, have you try download a fresh version on F@H graphical client, assign flag -local for it and try fold/download/upload wu again?

Hi shajbot,

Yeap! I tried many new versions and different flag settings, graphical clients, consoles, etc. I just tried another work around that was suggested by the Stanford site folks. That did not work either... So the XP1800 just uploaded and then downloaded a WU using the console client, which I then convert to graphical.

I've also left the console client alone and got the same results you just experienced... Long delays with the core searching for but not finding any work... Oh well...

BTW - Team_Folders_Inc will be passing our "old" team mate HellgY tomorrow...

One last thing. I just cranked up the OC on all of my main rigs. The 3.2 is running 3.68 (230fsb) the 2.6 is running 2.925 (225fsb) and the 2.53 is running 2.850 (150 fsb) I'll watch the temps for a while, but I think they'll be Ok for a week or so... I hope- :wince:

Take care and Fold On, :-)

Ok boys, I just ordered an 3500+ Venice core with E6 stepping from newegg! I also ordered a Gigabyte motherboard and 1 GB of Crucial DDR to go with it. So next week sometime I will have 6 rigs folding for the cause and our teams.

The "new" 3500+ will only be folding, 24/7. Along with the P4's (3.2@3.6 and 2.6@2.9). The other rigs - 2.53@2.8, XP1800 and XP1600 will fold for Team_Folders_Inc - 24/7...

That should get us moving in the right direction... I hope!

Take care, :-)

Hi cappy,

The stepping is the E6. The cpu designation is : ADA3500BPBOX according to AMD it's a socket 939, 90nm process and gives off 67W. So cooling it won't be a problem I figure. That's less than my old XP2000+ which was 72W and about the same as the XP1800+ I have on my daughters rig.

The ADA3500CG is the E4 stepping and the ADA3500AS is the older CG stepping. Anyway, I hope this helped.
I bought the cpu because it was only $109.00 and with the 939 socket, I can upgrade to any one of many other AMD cpu's for this socket...

If yours is the ADA3500BW it's listed as the same cpu as I purchased:
OPN (Tray) ADA3500DAA4BW
OPN_PIB ADA3500BPBOX (What I purchased)
Processor Model AMD Athlon™ 64 3500+
Frequency 2200Mhz
Socket 939
Wattage 67W

Take care, :-)

That'll provide a good boost to folding power. I take it that you'll just stick Linux on it? Still, I got pretty far off of my 2000...(kicks computer for being stupid) Maybe I'll be able to start folding again, if not for the team, when I get a new CPU.

Hi LBN,

Good to see you post hear... Yeah the 3500 folding 24/7 and not having anything else to do should provide a boost. I'm not sure how much though. Maybe 500-800 points a month??

I was also wrong about my E6 stepping. I check around the web and found that my ADA 3500BP Box is actually an E3 stepped cpu. According to one site there really isn't a difference in performance between the two. The only thing they noticed was the the E3 model had a max advertised heat temp of 70degC. Whereas the E6 model, the max temps were 65degC. They couldn't figure out why. They are both rated at 67W, so... go figure.

I figure I lose about 24 hours a week in folding time with the rigs I have. The reason is simple. All of them are being used by someone. When my daughters game, play music, etc the folding really takes a hit. I try and stay off mine as much as possible, like this week for example. I've only visited this site, paid bills and used my Excel folding spreadsheet. No games, no music, no burning CD's, nothing else. The folding results speak for themselves. I'm having one of my best weeks in total.

As for Linux. I never considered that. I'll have to look into it. It probably would save some clock time on the cpu and use it for folding. Yeah buddy...

If you do get back into the folding game, join Team_Folders_Inc There are my 2 XP's and soon to be P4 2.53 along with shajbot's part time P4... Yours would be #5. We'd have almost a complete team right there... lol.

BTW - Team_Folders_Inc will be passing HellgY this week!!

Take care, :-)

Hey Peroxide, great to see you again. Man it's really hot here in Albuquerque. Yesterday I almost flipped out because of the heat, slept all the way from 8PM to this morning though, with 16in fan blew in at high. Folding CPU reached 50C...

As for folding, it's going along pretty well despite the fact that it's like desert out here. I'm thinking of overclocking this 3800+ to somewhere 2.7Ghz maybe, then I could produce roughly 2000pts+ a week. This 3800+ venice has the potential to go up to 3.0Ghz but it would need some crazy water cooling and other stuff as well. But anyhow, it'll say 2.4Ghz until I'll get some big funding. I'm planning to subscribe to 1.5mbits line, do you guys think it worths it? Or should I save up to upgrade PC parts.

Anyhow, it's great to see you guys folding along well. Take care and keep that up.
