Ah..my dad doesn't want it. He just want a pre-built computer just buy and use out of the box which for a DELL conroe is around $2000 at Sam's Club now. Looks like Ima have to stick with these computer I have right now for about another 6 months or so, till I get some big money.

Hey buick, the conroe does fold really well. I've made some chart and see that

2.4Ghz AMD64 3800+ 9 instructions/cycles -- 21.6 million instructions/sec -- 600pts per 3 days 10 hours roughly (175 pts/day).
2.4Ghz Conroe E6600 12 instruction/cycles -- 28.8 million instructions/sec -- est[233.3 pts/day] which will produce 600pts in 2 days 12 hours.

Now's up with the big boys

2.8Ghz Opteron Dual Core 9 instructions/cycles -- 25.2 million instructions/sec -- 600pts per 3 days roughly (204 pts/day). x2 (dualcore) = 408 pts/day
3.2Ghz Conroe Dual Core 12 instructions/cycles -- 38.4 million instruction/sec -- 600pts per 2 days roughly (311 pts/day). x2 (dualcore) = 622 pts/day.

So you can see the very rough estimate of the points distribution. 3.2Ghz conroe about 622 pts/day.

Here I have all the parts listed out, the working rig only is around $700.

And congrat peroxide, you're one in some 250, good job.
Hi shajbot,

You have too much time on your hands! That was some kind of figuring, at the very least, Wow! ;-)
I thought I'd just ask about the rig, since my other one died. Looking for a cheapo 478 socket M/B now.

Hey do you know what happened to the reps thing??? I see that everyone's rep has been reduced and now a "unique rep" catagory is in play. What's that all about?? I've been away for too long...

Take care and enjoy school, :-)

Rep power had gotten so high that rep points were getting to be meaningless. A member who was repped 50 time, for instance, could have between 50 and 3500 rep points, depending on the individuals they helped. The true value of reps (acknowledgement of helping people) got lost with those high multipliers. To fix that, rep power was eliminated (or set to 1 if you choose) for all members. Rep = # of times someone clicked the rep button for you. Unique rep = # of people who clicked the rep button for you.

Hi taeric,

Thanks! I did read the post concerning the reps. I think I understand it??
I help people, if I can and because I like too. Not to gain fame or fortune... he,he,he...

BTW - It was my motherboard that failed last week. A chip went up in smoke. I purchased a new M/B and power supply (just in case!) from ZipZoomFly. They should be here tomorrow Sept 8th. Once they are set up, my numbers for the team competition should go back to normal or 3. That will leave 4 rigs for Team_Folders, which is climbing up the ranks nicely, I might add.

One last thing. The team (peroxide, cappy and shajbot) have agreed to let me make the push to 100,000 starting October 1st. So they'll add what they can in rigs and I'll follow up with you on counts. My totals will not go towards Folders Inc for October only. I'll be back on the team November 1st and everything will return to normal then. I might try and get an 8th rig folding this month. Looking for another M/B with 478 socket...

Thanks for all of your help, :-)

Hi cappy,

Yeah those 600 pointers are nice, IF you can complete them in 2 maybe 3 days. I know it's not the points, but having my rig run those cores and then loose them, really wastes time in my humble opinion. Those large Gromacs are un-stable on my rigs that are used everyday by the family. That's why I have 3 dedicated rigs. No lost cores, unless you count the M/B failure last week.
I hate to say this, but I'll pass on those big ones that end up on my daughter's rigs or mine. I'll stick with the Amber or 7a cores myself with a few DGromacs thrown in.

Take care and good luck at school, :-)

Gone through almost an hour with tech support, finally got the 1.5mbit line to work. I'm grateful about the tech support, and psyed with the new speed from dialup......about dialup, I'm also thankful those people given me free dialup internet access, although I don't like it very much, it basically what I kept me up til now. And so thankful for anyone reading this (and those who ain't). Sorry for the little too emotional, I'm really happy now.

Ok, back on the topic. I notice the 600pts one fold faster than the 400pts ??!! I check the benchmark in Fahmon and it say 30min for 1 frame of 600pts WU and 40 min for the 400pts one...I don't really know what going on but 600pts seem to be the best WU for me now.

Yeah cappy, my school also has about 200 P4 2.8 computers, I'll wait until they set up DeepFreeze on those and I'll ask the admin to get them fold -- for 37726 Team_Folders_Inc.

Hi cappy and shajbot,

Oh my!!! If you guys get the schools to buy in, Look out jrabb and Qmopar. Team_Folders_Inc will be kicking some serious ****!!!!

I'll be adding another rig sometime this month to Team_Folders. I'll get my 7th rig fixed this weekend and the 8th one up by months end. That way come October 1st, my push to 100,000 will get maximum effort.

BTW - I see LBN putting some folding in as well.. Thanks LBN!!!

Take care guys, :-)
