You have been great team members and I will check in from time to time... I'll PM taeric and tell him that Folders Inc will need at least one, if not two members...

Thanks for everything and take care, :-)
Darn, what's wrong buick? Are you having hardware failures and unable to keep up the mending? Anything we can help? Sorry to hear that buick. You're like the core of our team, if you're gone, this team would seriously be dismissed soon or sooner.

Hi shajbot,

Thanks for the kinds words... You guys are like my second family and I don't want to let you down, so.. When LBN started this team I wanted to contribute to the best of my ability. I do not want to be an anchor if the team can do better with another member. So I'll leave that decision to you guys. You have been, and continue to be the best team players, bar none!!

Here's the deal. The short version first.
Over the past week from Christmas to New Years I've lost or had problems with 7 of my 9 rigs. Only two have been stable. The FX-55 on a new Gigabyte M/B and the P4 2.53 OC'd to 2.8 on a new Asrock M/B.
All of the rest have had failures or problems with hardware. None are reliable enough for 24/7 folding for Folders Inc in the team competition. I do not want to let the team down, so I'll dismiss myself...

If the team wants to wait a month or so while I try and fix things and get everything back to reliable 24/7 operation, that will be fine. However, I have everything confirgured to me - 455buick while I work out the problems. Taeric and the others won't stand for that long, I would imagine.

As for the long story. Of the 10 rigs I have at my disposal, 5 are used by family members, myself included, and all of them are long in tooth. Anywhere from 3 to 6 years old. The XP1600 (brothers) has delveloped media driver issues. I don't know what it is. Nothing has changed on the rig. I replaced the video card with a PCI unit to find the problems but it keeps crashing.
The XP1800 of my middle daughter, continues to re-boot and have problems when she plays games or works on her computer. So for the time being folding is off that rig. My youngest daughter has the P4 2.6 and it also has been blue screening as of late. Page fault errors... I changed the DDR out but again it re-boots randomly. My oldest daughter had the P4 2.8 OC'd to 3.0+. It has just devleoped a video card problem, I think. The old 9700Pro card is giving up. The screen will go un-viewable and re-boots are the story of the day. This can happen two or three time in one day. Very frustrating!
My computer has been acting real flaky since I downloaded iTunes on it. What a mess! Again random freezes, reboots, etc. It hasn't run more than 48 hours without a problem in over a month now. So that's 5 of the rigs. All of them except the P4 2.8 folded for Team_Folders.
You know aboout the FX and P4 2.53. The other rigs are the OC'd mobile P4 and 2 gpu rigs. First the mobile P4 3.06. It was overclocked to 250 on the fsb for about a month, great stuff! It then started re-booting on a regular basis in November so I pulled the fsb back to 240. Now it's going through those issues again. I may have to pull it back some more, but with a 12 multiplier running it at 200 fsb only nets a 2.4Ghz cpu. It's a used M/B so I don't have high hopes for it, Not too good!

And now the most frustrating issue of them all. First the second gpu rig has never, and I mean never run. It continues to be a real sore spot with me. Although I set it up like the first gpu rig, it just won't run. So it sits idle. About $800.00 worth of idle. The first gpu rig quit on New Years Eve. It won't re-start on gpu folding. It runs Ok, but won't gpu fold. I got it folding a p2124 WU right now, but that's not what it's supposed to be doing.
So I've got a lot of work ahead of me over the next month or so. I was going to buy a Conroe rig for myself, but bought the second gpu rig instead to fold. So no new rig for me now. I've got to get those two gpu rigs going!! I just don't know when that will happen. I've been working with the Stanford folks and I think we've got it down to the ATI drivers. I'm still not real sure though.

So there you have it. 10 rigs and only 2 ready to fold 24/7... I think the team can do better. But like I said, if you guys want to wait that will be fine with me as well... Maybe in February we can make a run at them, I don't really know. I do know if I combined the FX-55 with the 2 - X1950XTX cards I'd have one hell of a gaming rig!! But that's not what I want. I want to fold and help this team, Folders Inc and Team 37726 do well in the folding arena. That's all.... I hope you guys will understand. Just let me know what you want to do and I'll agree to it. No problems! Really....

BTW - I think peroxide's in the same boat...

Take care and I'll keep in touch, :-)

Wow buick, that's a mountain of problems there, I'm sorry you have to go through. I don't know what to say man, except do what you can, return to us asap. Peroxide too if you can.

On the computer hardware parts, I could imagine on my oc'ed rig with problems arise once in every while, I find no doubt that that amount is multiplied with so many oc'ed rigs like you have buick. Luckily the rest of my rigs (amd64 3800+ and 12 P4 2.8) are at factory settings. GPU folding is teh great if not the best, I think you should spend more brain power to get it work if you can. The team only need 2 of that GPUs and we'll be set.

So as of now, we have me shajbot and cappy still folding. buick might be not be counted into our total but he'll come back soon. So we still need that new member unless Peroxide is having to go through the same thing as buick...

Im still here, buick, if your going to take a break do it. I think you deserve one after trying to keep all those rigs running 24/7. Take a while and get them perfect, dont fold and get more and more fustrated, just get them going. w00t i thought of a quote!!!!! "A slower stable PC is better than a faster unstable one"

Ill be ordering new parts here in february. Although only 350-400 dollars worth. Im realy hoping to get something good atleast. Iv built a Conroe 6300 rig but its $550 for a case, ram, mobo, cpu and power supply. So i cant do that which makes me a bit mad but i guess ill just stick with Socket 939. Ill see what prices are like around that time.

I ordered a Chaintech sound card from newegg for $21 and the shipping was $7 for 3 DAY! It weighed less than 2 punds at that. But that arrived today and i sent it back within 5 minutes of putting it in my computer. The drivers were crashing my comp, no equalizer, and for one thing a actual sound card SHOULD sound better than onboard... guess what? Nope... and my onboard even has a nice program to use.

Back to the new parts, right now its looking like ill just buy a dual core 939 and a video card. Either that or ill just save the money untill i get a job then save for another m,onth and see whats new in the parts world. Since ill be looking for a job in a few months. Figure at least 70-120 dollars a week. At least anyway, my friend brings home at least 130 a week. But then again this summer ill have to go buy a car, after im done with drivers training anyway and then start paying for some of my insurance.

Wow i like getting off-topic dont i? And i think this is my longest post ever in this thread!

Iv been playing quite a few games lately. Counter strike, and mainly BattleField 2142... Iv already put 40 hours on it only have it for a little over a week. As of right now it looks like i would buy

AMD Opteron 175 dual core, which would leave me with around 170 dollars for a video card which id probably go with a x1950pro but this is all prices now not in a month...

But i keep forgetting im going to sell a 2700+, which i could get probably 10-20 dollars from, and maybe even sell my 3500 and x800gto. But then again id just give that to my mom to use and fold since its faster than that slow celly... and its a hp so i cant oc it trust me iv tried.

Im tired of typing and i cant think of anything else to say. Buick, take a break if you need to. Peroxide just post here for once! So its looking like just me and shaj? Want to just keep it me and you for a month and not find new temp members?

I PM'd Buick on this, but I'd just like to post it here. I have restarted folding (haven't folded recently because I've been home using my comp a lot), and if you need somebody to replace peroxide, I can fill in. My computer is on all the time, so it would be folding most of the day (like at least 20 hours a day), giving a nice kick to keep us going.
Well, let's see here.

The rig I'm currently folding on is in use quite a bit, so I'll be switching rigs to my personal one which rarely gets any use since I'm always on my Xbox 360 now.

This should probably bring up my points.

Best of luck to everyone, especially buick since it seems like you're having a heck of a time there.

Hi guys,

It's really great being part of this team!!! I can't Thank all of you enough..

Here's the lastest. I think I've got most of the rigs back on track. Let's see -That was one hard, 2 video cards, some DDR, a new psu and some DE-tuning of 4 rigs. I moved the overclocks down on the folding rigs.

I think the mobile is Ok for now. It's sitting at an fsb of of 240 or 2.64Ghz. It might be a 3.06 but the multiplier is only 12. The 2.53 was pulled back to 2.66 or a fsb of 140. My P4 3.2C and the P4 2.6C are stock now. I think I've got a handle on all of the rigs except mine and the two gpu rigs. I'm still fighting with them.

I say this based on your posts... We stay as a team - No new members. We'll just not compete this month in the team competition, if that is what it takes. I'll PM taeric. Is this OK??

I will get those gpu rigs folding if it's the last thing I do. I've been posting in the forums over at Stanford and several people, an alancabler, bruce, 7im and carl have been very helpful. As a group we'll figure this out.

In the meantime, as I get the computers stable, I'll switch them back over to Team_Folders_Inc. I think I know where everything is now.... My active cpu numbers have gone up as they complete WU's (so I know where I am) and I will start moving them back over to Team_Folders... I couldn't tell which computers were doing what before! I will leave the FX-55, the P4 2.8 OC'd to 3.045 (145 fsb) and P4 2.53 on my sig 455buick...

Thanks again for all of your support and friendships. It means a lot to me! You've taken all of the pressure off!!!

Take care, one and all...

Hi shajbot,

I'm going to be spending a great deal of brain power, both mine and others, trying to figure out the gpu folding problems. Why my first one quit, I don't know. Why the second one won't even start, is still a mystery?? Did I mention that I bought another new mainboard for it! Maybe that's the problem.. I will get it worked out though and then we'll be rocking the house!

I now have two slightly used ASUS A8N-Sli Deluxe M/B's. Maybe in the future I'll get number 11 and 12 rigs going??? Man, What am I thinking... ;-)

Since you and the rest of Folders Inc still want me, I'm IN!!!

I'm glad you're on my team. Oh, I've said that before too... Don't want to sound like a broken record.

Take care, :-)
