Good job guys, we managed to pull off 5th place in Jan. Not bad for such team as ours with so many changes and troubles. Keep it up!

Hi shajbot,

I'll have to go look at the results. 5th place though? That's great! With HVAC on board we should be able to maintain that position and perhaps move up one. Hopefully the disks for the Fedora 6 OS will come today. I haven't seen them yet. I'll get that going ASAP. Since I'm at home this week due to my injury yesterday. (Tore my calf muscle in a fall - OUCH!). I'll be just laying around and resting for the next couple of days.

I'll keep in touch. Take care guys and Fold On! :-)

Hi Guys,

For what it's worth, I changes my avatar. I reflects a "real" 1970 455 Buick convertible I own. I have a couple of other shots, but this gives you an idea.

Take care, :-)

Hey guys,

I moved up to 693 with 2060 points in the OC team stats. `Don`t know how "good" this is, but I promise to continue folding @ 24/7. Maybe like the turtle I`ll gain some ground.

BTW, I`m looking for a 3.4gig P4 Intel 478 chip with hyperthreading to replace my 2.8gig chip. `Nothing wrong with my existing chip, but I`m thinking all of the 478 stuff will disappear soon, and I want to upgrade that as much as possible. `Found one at Tiger Direct for $119, but I can`t afford it yet. `Hope it isn`t sold within the next week or so.

Hi hvac,

That is great news!! I've been watching the stats on our team and we should do Ok this month. I hope we meet your expectations. And that's good news on the P4 3.4. If you can get one, buy now, because they will be gone soon!

Take care, :-)

Ok guys,

I received the (6) Fedora 6 disks today. Just spent the last 30 minutes installing the first two disks. Everything seems Ok. The OS is now making 212 updates to the system. When that is complete I will go to Stanford's web site and try my hand at SMP folding. I'll download the client and any other programs needed.

Hopefully, this won't take too long. Stand by...

Ok guys here it is...

I downloaded the SMP client. Saved it in a folder. Double clicked the "folding A1" program?

The FAH log text read likes this:

Project 3027 (Run 5, Clone 61, Gen 14)
Entering MD
Protein: SMP-nsv-03
Writing local files
nt)
a SSE Boost OK

It's now been about 6 minutes since this last log. Is everything Ok so far??

How long does the client take to start calculating??

I'll post back here soon and let you know how things are going.

Take care, :-)

On my Conroes at 3.6 GHz, each percent takes about 5 minutes. If it doesn't iterate within 15 minutes (and likely less), something is probably wrong.
