AMD socket AM2 to support DDR2 800

WE ALL expected that AMD planned to support DDR 2 400, 533 and 667 but very few of us expected that the firm plans to include DDR 2 800 MHz on its list. Before February, the plan was to support all memories up to DDR 667 but AMD eventually decided that it can and will support DDR 2 800 MHz from the outset. Now the migration to DDR 2 finally makes sense, as DDR 2 800 MHz can sure show sume difference compared with DDR 1 400 or even DDR 1 overclocked to 667.

The lastest word it that FX-62 will launch with AM2.

So, if I buy an AM2 CPU, mobo, and some DDR2 mem, then will I need a whole new setup when support for DDR3 comes out? Or just new CPU and RAM?

For those of you fellas that think that there's a difference between DDR2 667 and 800.....there's almost none.

DDR2 certainly isn't going to help AMD that much or at all.

A Look At AMD's Socket AM2 Platform

4 to 6 years?

Not really: Fastest 512 Megabit DDR3 SDRAM.

Also: Elpida Memory Delivers DDR3 SDRAM Memory Modules to Intel. <----Nov. 14, 2005.

Sounds to me that AMD might be one step behind again, since they're just starting to roll out DDR2 and Intel already has received samples of both 512 and 1GB sticks of DDR3. AMD better get their ***** together if they're ever going to get me to switch over from the dark side...lol.
