What settings is your CPU at right now? The FSB and multiplier in particular. And do you know your memory timings? If you can not see them in the bios download CPU-Z and it will tell you. Actually just post pics of all the tabs from CPU-Z and we can start OC'ing that ram!!

Could you be more specific?

Have you ever overclocked anything before? If not I can walk through all the steps with you. Just let me know any experience you do have with overclocking.

First thing is to download cpu-z. Then install and run it. You can open it more than once, so open it 4 times with each one on a difference tab and then hit the print screen on your keyboard. Then go to Start, Programs, Accessories, Paint. Then click the Edit tab and go down to paste. Then save that picture and use the attachment button (paper clip) to put it in your next post.

This will tell me what your settings are in the bios. That's what I was asking about when I said HTT, blah blah.

Here is an example of mine.

Attachment 20681

And by the way, welcome to the forums!!! Always glad to have another overclocker on board!

k, newbee12 let's get started. Now when you overclock you don't just overclock one thing. You overclock everything. So if we want to overclock your memory we have to raise the FSB. But doing that will overclock your cpu, etc.

So first thing to do is boot into your bios. If you could take pictures of your bios it'ld be great. I'm not sure what options are in there but I found a couple of pictures so I have an idea.

Now in the bios you should have an option called "Cool' n' Quiet" change that from enabled to disabled. Change the "Adjust CPU Ratio" from x12 to x10. Change the "CPU Voltage" to the highest number possible. Change the "Memory Voltage" to 2.70 V. Set the "HT Frequency" to 4x. Set the "HT Width" to 16 both ways.

Save and reboot back into the bios.

Here is the tricky part. We want to up the "Adjust CPU FSB Frequency" from 200MHz. Move in small amounts and reboot often to make sure you don't have problems. Incriments of 10MHz are good. As you raise your FSB everything speeds up. So if we get your FSB to say 240MHz - with your multiplier still at x10 - your processor would be at 2.4GHz which is what it's at now, but your memory would be running at 240MHz now!!!

Now with your memory running that high, you might get lots of crashes if the memory can't hack it. So what we need to do is lower the memory divider from 1:1 to 5:4. This means changing the Memory clock from default 200MHz to 166MHz.

Here is the math. 166(new mem speed)/200(default mem speed) = .83
Now your new memory divider is your cpu multiplier x10 divided by .83 = 12
So we take the cpu clock of 240x10 or 2400MHz / 12 = 200MHz and that's what your memory is running at now.
That's the 5:4 because 240(cpu):200(memory)

I hope that makes sense. Here is a program called A64 MemFreq that will do that math for you to figure out your memory speeds.
