Opteron vs. Athlon - Page 4

In SiSoft Sandra, I did arithmatic benchmark, and 3.6 Ghz my CPU, I think, beat the 2.~Ghz. Dothan.

Maybe I'm not understanding it well, but w/e.

I never once compared a particular Opteron to a particualr Athlon 64. I do not deny that you or others have that good of an overclock. WTG by the way, with that 3.1 you should get a Noble I think.

What is an average overclock to you? Do you think 25% overclock is average? I think getting 25% more performance then what was intended for a processor is a damn good overclock.

Let us examine exactly what I wrote.

Did I once ever use the word guarantee anything or even use the word "'awesome'" when describing an overclock. Looks like you need to work on your reading comprehension there Waxy.

I don't even need to say anything about this, BigVal put you in your proverbial place on that one.

Once again give some thought to working on those reading skills, and what kind of cheeseball says... let alone writes down a cliche like that. *cough*loser*cough*

It is reactionary, brash and rude people like you that "guarantee" that I will have to deal with dips like you, and oh... I am certain of that.

I never once guaranteed anything. The Athlon 64's and Opterons are both great processors. I just made an attempt to defend the Opterons and never made an boastful claims like "i run 3.1 rock stable and so does just about every other new SD stepping". I sure hope you never have to let that one down.

I actually would probably not do any better because it is my memory holding me back. That is why I run at 2.55GHz, because it best utlizes my memory and processor, something about me that does not want to run PC3200 at PC2100. Call me crazy.

All that I know is temperatures are key. At 2.85GHz with full load my Opteron only hit 42*C and that was a momentary spike from 40*c. Being air cooled with a Heatsink that many think is obsolete (don't think so myself). That in and of itself is amazing. I hope all other Opteron owners are as lucky as me.

HAHAHA thats great LOSER?? first off taking a personal hit on someone is NOT what this forum is about a 25% overclock great lots of ppl can do it. Bigval DID NOT put me in my place so where you get that i dunno he proved one thing about AM3 (no offence bigval you have your points). And call me "dip" thats real real mature my friend. I was simply stating that ppl that hear something (not saying there isnt truth to it) like some of the ppl here (not making fun of nor bashing them) blow it out of proportion. im sure opterons are great overclockers as so are regular athlons. But the thing is nothing is guaranteed.. ive seen ppl on here claim "youll get an awesome overclock with an opteron" but its simply not proven. There are ppl that dont get anything above menial while overclocking. So please next time refrain from taking personal attacks against me there is NO reason for it and its highly inapropriate here. If you wanna be an a** go on springer. I never pointed anyone out nor did i point at you for making "boastful" claims. i said and i quote, "the likes of ppl that guarntee" Where is your name in there. And i didnt mean "you" so if that sparked this i apologize. But there is no need to do that

Yeah, my G.Skill's running at PC2100, and I can't do anything about it until I get my new CPU/mobo... At least my timings are tight.

You should get a DDR500 G.Skill 2 GB kit next time you've got $200 laying around.

Hey guys dont do this here!!
There is no need for this and I have no idea why you're starting fights. I did not attempt to "put thawaxshop in his place", I was discussing the topic at hand. Before this gets even more out of hand you two need to stop now.

You are right though my behaivor was inappropriate, and I apologize for it. It is what it is, and we can agree to disagree.

Thanks for calming down ... wouldn't want to send you both to your corners for a few days now .

If you have some stable OC results post them up in the OC.net DB here we show the %OC too... with valid enough entries a trend will start to form.
