Hardware Test

Thread Starter
Hi, I think there might be a problem with my motherboard. I use a benchmark test to see if my GPUs and CPU are working properly like 3DMark05, which is scoring 12500-13500, which is normal. For RAM I use Memtest86. So the questions is, what are some test I can do to make sure my motherboard is working 100% and is not defected in any way?

Wondering b/c my OCZ PC-3200 Platinum, which is the highest end ram they offer keeps failing. It is definetly not the rams fault in this case b/c I exchanged the ram for a new one and it still failed Memtest86, so this leads to possible issues of my motherboard. So what do u guys think the problem is? Would it be from the cause of the CMOS settings or the hardware itself?..... I really really hope it's not the hardware.

My Specs are:
AMD 4400+ Dual-Core
DFI SLI-D Motherboard
2x7800GTX 256mb
Enermax 620W
OCZ 2x1GB PC-3200 Platinum

You might want to check on the DFI-Street Forums. There may be some known issues for your motherboard and exact memory.

Do you have your Memory overclocked? What are your timings? Most likely it is just how you have your memory set up. Like I said check out the DFI forums, I bet there is already a thread addressing this issue with that Memory.

Everything on my motherboard is on the default settings as I'm not too experienced with tweaking timing/overclocking ram.

Up the voltage on the ram if it's below 2.7 volts. Look for VDimm in your BIOS or something worded very similar. You can go up to 2.8 volts, but don't go north of there.

What is it set at then? Default does not mean it is set at the default for the memory you bought. Your memory could be set running at pc2700 with some wacky timings. Download this application, CPU-Z. Once installed it will show you your processor information, your memory frequency and timings and other information.

Edit: Another application similar to CPU-Z is CBI (Central Brain Identifier) that will give you some valuable information as well.
