Yeah, it's worth looking for some elpida based memory otherwise you are just going to get stuck at 1800 8-9-8. I have some handpicked ridgebacks from mushkin, the same ones that are nearly hitting 3ghz and they cant do rated spec on this board ( 1600 6-8-6 ) Forced to run jdec timings :/

http://www.overclock.net/online-deal...h-e-hyper.html These are great kits and uber cheap I paid like... $300 for 4gb of hypers when they were still being made.

Say hello 1800 6-6-5
Now when I look at the same link, the 080015 BIOS is listed there. I could have sworn it wasn't just an hour ago...Must be my eyes playing tricks with me. :/

I wish it was possible for me to get me a set of Hypers here. Only way here to grab a hold of one of them is to have them imported via a local distro, and it isn't cheap. :/

I think I'm going with the Eco's then. Just hope that Biostar conjures up a new BIOS soon which supports higher mem frequencies soon!

thinking about jumping on the ta890fxe for $109 from tigerdirect

is this a worthy upgrade from my asus 785g?

i'm going to install a cpu only custom loop too with ek supreme hf

should i keep my 955 or get a thuban?

The TA890FXE is definitely a great step-up from the ASUS 785G motherboard.

Depends on whether or not you are going to be using the extra 2 cores. If you are going to be using multi-threaded apps, the 1055T might be good for you, otherwise you should probably just save the money.

Thubans are also generally better at overclocking.

I would definitely steer clear of a 1055t in this board tho. HTT isn't it's strong point. A 1090 and you are laughing

Really? I thought 300+ FSB on this board is quite possible?
