TigerDirect's parent company owns them now. They are basically identical but they have different sales sometimes.

The BIOS is up-to-date, we've tried every possible combination in slots (red/red, white/white, red/white) and it seems to work fine on all slots with only one of the sticks. I'm rather clueless on what it could be

Biostar TA890FXE

Stupid question time, but did you plug in all power connectors ? (well, all except for the one next to the PCIe slot)
I am using 4 sticks of F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL with the OCZ 700w and have no issues.
Also, make sure you are not shorting the motherboard out with the standoffs. Or in other words, try 2 sticks with the motherboard out of the case, and place it on some cardboard, and trouble shoot that way.

I wish that was the case
Only 1 of the 2 sticks seems to work (either one of the two). I tested my spare 2x2GB G-skill tridents in his rig and they gave no problem whatsoever.

What I did notice;
- The PCB of the ripjaws memory modules he got is slighty darker green/blue then I usually see. Maybe another type of module?
- The ripjaws have spec 7-7-7-21 (1333Mhz) whilst the tridents have 8-8-8-24. Eventho memory timings are on auto, could that be the issue?

edit; I left my Tridents with him and will test the Ripjaws in my GXE this weekend.

While I know that turning on BIOunlock (ACC) disables core temps, looking at CPUID's hardware monitor, it shows CPU temp of 63C, and the actual core temp of 53.5C with ACC disabled running linX.6.4

I just want to verify if the CPU temp is always 10C over the core temps ?
Oh, also, the "Mainboard" temp is 73C, I assume that is the SB850 temp, the one with the really small heatsink ?

64c CPU temp is too hot and 73c mainboard is insane. Way too hot. Gonna start blowing up caps or vrms
post #687 of 1154
mainboard temp on the ta890fxe is bugged, but 64c is pretty hot for cpu

The mainboard temp is a bug. The socket temp however I think is real... Need to sort that out. Bad mount?

Hmm, interesting.
The stock cooler was running at 75C(socket)/65C (core), and I was trying out my old 939 cooler, and that brought it down to 63C(scoket)/53.5C(core) on the same tests.

3.3v is wrong, I tested with a meter, and it shows 3.3v.
AMD's overdrive utility shows 29C for temp.
Toverclocker shows CPU temp 39C, SYStemp 33C.

CPU HW monitor, T-Overclocker and speedfan all do the job.
