Yes, using AHCI drivers, no, you can't hotswap, at least, not using the 'safely remove device' way.

The only device that is listed there is if you hook up a HD to the e-sata port on the back of the motherboard. All other ones, and you don't have that option.

The one HD using port 4 (e-sata) is listed in the "Safely Remove Hardware" dialog.

I can hook up the other 3 HDs I have as well, and none of those show up either.

I'm curious now....any modded bios out there?

For what it is worth, in this thread, http://forums.tweaktown.com/asrock/4...problem-3.html and in this post, http://forums.tweaktown.com/asrock/4...tml#post364840

It verifies it is a BIOS issue, but it don't seem like Biostar has any tech support available, they haven't replied to any messages I left them for 2 1/2 weeks now.

KobaltRock:
If you're wanting to hot swap via Windows, try HotSwap! (http://mt-naka.com/hotswap/index_enu.htm). It's been a while, but IIRC it allows hot swapping drives from all ports other than the OS.

Guys need some help. I want to boot from dvd rom but cant get it to for anything. I hit F12 an d the boot menu pops up, I select dvd option, then it goes to the stupid BIOS flasher thing. From there I have to reboot. How do I keep that from popping up?

PS, Ive tried setting dvd rom as first boot device, that dont work either, but I shouldnt have to.

Have you loaded the chipset drivers?? And also try setting it as the only boot device. Disable the hard drives in the boot menu in bios

Go to Boot and change the DVD drive to the first boot.
