Yea those cards still offer some tremendous value for the money. Already I am seeing the same underestimation with the 6000 series that I saw with the 4000 series before launch; I wonder if history will repeat this time around.

It's hot, it sucks nearly twice as much power as a HD5870 for 10% extra performance and its effing expensive.

Yea, talk about inefficient eh? I really don't mind extra power consumption as long as performance increases accordingly but in this case, it did not.

That's funny mine have never seen 90c. Everything is expensive were you live.
Owning a 5770 really doesn't put you in a position to judge does it? |
There are LOADS of reviews online of the 480 exceeding 95 degrees in benchmarks. There is even one of them reaching 105+ degrees when in SLI. Before you start flaming people who post the truth you could try using google.
Here, this took 30 seconds for me to find:

Source: http://www.geeks3d.com/20100328/gefo...lugs-required/
Funny they choose to mention earplugs being required in the title of the article, maybe cos the GTX480s are ridiculously loud.
They are priced around $120 more than a 5870 (use newegg, it takes all of 20 seconds) and that is in no way priced correctly considering the extremely minimal average gains they provide.
I am looking forward to the 6000 series, maybe nvidia could start to compete and benefit consumers, if they continue to not compete on prices then I hope their sales get hit hard and fanboys start to question their brand loyalty in the face of facts.
