Hopefully i can post 2nite with 2.8! 3.0 is my dream but i think i'd need a bit of vcore for that. Thnx alot man!
What's your HT multi? That's what was holding me up for the longest time. As you can see I'm running on crap PC2100 and I still managed to overclock that and get a stable 2.8gz. If you post your current settings maybe I can be of more help.

Sure thing tuchan. Link is below. The 2.8ghz is stable so far as I can tell. It passed SuperPi without any problems and hasn't crashed on me since I got it to pass. My Vcore is 1.55 as you can see on the screen. Although the BIOS accepts higher and lower voltages 1.55 seemed to be the most stable for me.
My temps are 32-33 idle and 38-39 full load - being cooled with a Bigwater Se.

Btw, what motherboard are you using?

geees ya getting better temps than me, I am around 50c loaded just under 1.6 vcore and at 2700 with a ambient of about 45 c (case temp), I cant seem to get it to perform well, my 3000+ did 2800 no worries and even got it to over 3000mhz but wasnt stable, either my temp is killing me or the cpu is just not that good, the mobo used is the one in my sig. I am doing the OC with 4 sticks of ram too which might be killing it.

Did you try stepping up the voltage on your ram? I have mine stepped up +0.1 and that seemd to be more stable. Also those temps are pretty high 50C full load is getting smokin hot. What are you using to cool?
Also, I think your vcore is probably too high - you should be able to run more around 1.55 like me. I had real stability issues at 1.6.

Hey guys..

I'm probably the biggest noob here when it comes to ocin, but I just ordered the same gig board in this thread and am going to pick up a 3000+ possibly 3200+ for 60 bux locally. I have some patriot pc4000 2gb and I was wondering what my possibilities should be?

After about 5 hours of tweaking and several BIOS upgrades later I've finally got my 3200+ running at a semi-stable 2.8ghz. By semi-stable, I mean that the OS sits happily in idle without crashing, but sustained SuperPi tests crashed the OS. Small tests, such as the 2 and 4mb output files work, but larger ones consistantly crash.

The system is being very good about getting to the windows GUI even at over 2.8ghz but becomes increasingly less stable the higher I go. The system runs perfectly well at speeds around 2.6-7 with only a minimal ammount of tweaking, but any higher than about 2.75 seems to result in less identifiable problems.

An overview of how I've gotten it up to 2.8:

Originally, I started out on an old revision (F5) of my Gigabyte GA-K8NSC-939 and cooked the CPU up to about 2.5ghz using Just FSB, core voltage, and ddr voltage controls. I then hit a wall at 2.52. At this point the BIOS wouldn't even load. I concluded I needed more tools in my bag.

Using Gigabyte's nice windows updater I flashed my BIOS with the latest revision (F8) which increases stability and settings for AMD 64 chips. This proved key in surpassing the 2.5 barrier. The key to passing this barrier was changing the CPU/DDR clock ratio - it had formerly been set to 2/1.25 and I changed it to 2/1.5 - bingo the system accepted a FSB dialed up to 260 to yiled an effective 2.6ghz.

Sadly, at 2.6 I hit another barrier in terms of the FSB. The system hung at the BIOS. This time I left everythign the same, but lowered the HT multiplier - former at 4x now at 3x - bingo the bios accepted FSB up to 285 - I think it could probably take a higher fsb without hanging at the bios, but it wasn't really worth checking out since the system was so unstable.

[UPDATE: System now stable with the following options]
Right now I'm running at:
HT Multi= 3x
FSB= 280x10=2800mhz
DDR/CPU= 2/1.33
DDR speed = 372
AGP Clock=68
CPU voltage = 1.525
DDR voltage = +0.1

Temps: (using Bigwater SE @ max fan speed)
Idle = 32-33C
Full Load = 38C

FD
I have the same board and CPU and just flashed bios to F8. But I cant figure out where to make these adjustments! HT Multi I can see and change ok.

Is the FSB listed as the clock speed? In this case at stock set to 200? If I change it then move on it automatically resets to 200.

DDR/CPU I can find.

RAM is set to 420 and GREYED out, cant be changed?

Help? Its taking so much time to figure out what to do in BIOS. THANKS!
