Final Fantasy Tactics just isnt fair!

lol me and a couple of friends were playing. We went into a battle and guess what we had to face.. 11 monks! Now these monks were also level 70+, we were in our 60's and we dont use the main character either, just characters we named after ourselves and a random other person. Well our party was.. 1 Summoner, 1 Time Mage, 1 Calculator, and 1 Chemist (I was teh Chemist). This is a HORRIBLE SITUATION FOR US. My friend cast Bahamut in the middle of the area and more than half of them walked into it, hurt em. Then he cast Bahamut again and killed 2 and brought 3 to critical.. I picked one off, and the calculator killed one. Ok by now they are almost to us, and none of us could do crap at close range lol. Well then the calculator got killed in one hit, then my friend tried Bahamut to take even more out but he got killed, also in one hit. Now, this reaally wasnt cool. We were getting surrounded, and 2 of our 4 party members just got owned. I brought back the summoner, which was then just killed. Time Mage got killed I ran away and took a potshot.. Time Mage came back because of auto re-raise, got owned again. Im now in a corner with like 5 monks wanting me dead. Well there was no escape from this corner, and they had a max of around 440 hp.. My pistol did 64 per attack. lol I just gave up. That was DEFINATELY the most stupid battle ive ever been in lol. It was nearly hopeless. Anyone else have a similar experience? lol

Yeah... I haven't played that game in a long time. I have FFT: Advanced though I don't like the tiny screen and I refuse to buy a gamecube just to watch it on the TV. I'm trying to figure out how the expansion plug works so I can make my own adapters (audio and video) for it. Come on, I play Final Fantasy -- you already know I'm a geek.

Haven't played the original FF:T, just FF:TA. No battles that bad so far, but I only pull it out every couple of months, so that's no surprise.

The mainline FF games always have "impossible" battles in them like this, of course. If you get to the end too early, even the final boss can sometimes seem impossible; I had that problem against the sorceress in FF8, I had to back out and go level up and get new powers before I could finish it. But I'm more thinking about those optional battles that only true Final Fantasy uber-geeks bother trying to win. I don't need that kind of frustration myself, I usually leave them alone.

That's them. I tried to fight the underwater one (I think that was Emerald) one time and got smacked down so hard it wasn't even funny. No fun there for me. I would rather move on to a new game than spend another few weeks leveling up enough to beat two uber-monsters just to get to 100% completion!

Two words for dealing with monks: Blade Grasp. Samurai skill which basically reduces hit percentabes to the high teens if they're lucky. You're a virtual tank against anyone with phyiscal attacks.

lol they would have been nothing if we had been good skills, we simply were just mastering classes for the heck of it.. If I was my monk/knight there would have been some pwnage.

yeah, not even a WSummon Knights of the Round Mimic could kill him. Both Ruby and Emerald have 1Mil HP. So the battle mostly consists of knights of the round mimic and lvl 4 limits.
