Is upgrading to the AMD X2 3800+ good from an amd 3000+? Or should I get more money and get the 4400?

P.S. Anyone want to buy my amd 3000+ venice..its only like 2 months old? msg me

I would either go for the X2 3800+ or a Opty 165, both will reach 2.5Ghz+

Save your cash for now. That's not a very large upgrade IMO and not necessary yet,either.

If you really want to make the move then you might like to take the Opteron 165 as it has 1MB X 2 Cache as opposed to the X2 which has 512KB X 2 Cache. I agree with sccr6442 though it I was in your position.

I don't even care about overclocking, I couldn't even overclock my amd 3000 to 1.9ghz with this equipment

Perhaps 4 sticks of ram is too much for the memory controller and that is hurting your oc.

I thought 4 sticks was best for OC I guess 2 is better, no oc for me!

AMDs don't like 4 sticks of RAM. If you take two out, you should be able to overclock it considerably... Geil One is awesome overclocking RAM.

Yeah, that or Patriot. But, you're probably going to want to go with the GEIL, only because it's cheaper. Oh, and hi, Namrac!
