Recommend a folding GPU - Page 2

At 70F ambient 75% of the people that report temp issues with any component here on OCN would be talking about something else. With my room at 83F my G92 8800's quickly "ran away" and temps routinely exceeded 95C (during folding) and I had the fans hard wired to 12v so it was not a software issue.

Huh?
I did a search on Musashi, but all I got were Japanese swords, a Japanese battleship, and a restaurant in Oklahoma City.

For the budget i recommend 8800GT's i love them they produce 5/5.5k easy when overclocked. And they are like 50€ each If you can find GTS250 for 70€ it would be better but if they ask more i would stick with 8800GT's.
About temps i had 2 8800GT's with MX-3 on stock coolers (1 slot ones) and temps were around 70ºC

It is all about ambients Cy, what were your ambients? Does it feel like you have been on page two forever?

EDIT: Just to see whats up I fired up my rig with one of my 8800's in it. Did some browsing, checked my mail then fired up EVGA precision the gpu was at 63C then I started the folding client 5min latter it is at 74C

Room ambient 78F

70C Cy? thats what my 275 folds at (ambient up to 80F) and we know the 275 has better cooling that any 8800

I had minor set backs today my SSD and 2 HDD's went to the garbage had to buy another HDD i sold my 2 GTX's 275 and was on a 8600Gt for 1 week then i bought a GTX470 and gpuv3 did not come out at the time lol so you see. But i am up and running again today at 24/7 i had a few days that could only fold 7/8h. And tomorrow i have a busy day too changing cases all in due time.

PCC and my ambient temp is 26/27ºC day and 22/23Cº at night but my case has good fans Scythes of 68CFM and in the side 88CFM

I have to agree the 8800GT is a solid work horse for folding I have one running more or less 24/7 and it kicks out around 4-5K PPD and thats without any oc'ing if I really push it I can fold for about 3-4 days stable at about 6-7K PPD but I don't mind the gap so I fold unOC'd.

If you where to go for a 8800GT or GTS I would advise that you get a aftermarket heatsink as the stock heatsink and fan won't keep it too cool.

6/7K on a 8800GT? Thats kind of hard or its vmoded my 8800GTX at 1674MHz shader is giving me 6k and has more 16 shaders

I fold on a GTS and don't see higher than 75C on it on stock cooler and fan on auto which has the fan spinning ~75% but my ambient temps around about 70F in my room right now.
