i still like CRT - Page 5

I have ALWAYS thought that CRTs were better, im glad i have found people that share my view! I find that the movement is crappy on lcd, and the colours are so so wrong. i have always regarded VRT as being a better, purer image, and it can do black and white properly. Ive never seen an LCD that the white didnt look too cold on, or didnt ghost when it moved.

Plus i hear LCD are cheaper to manufacture, so as far as i can see it, people are getting ripped off.

I need to stick up for LCD monitors here...I agree with Val, my Hyundai LCD looks better than my Viewsonic CRT. I was scared to get an LCD because people/reviews said that they were inferior in picture quality to a CRT. Well to those people I say you have never seen a decent LCD then

I have crisp, sharp colours (including deep blacks) and absolutley no ghosting. This Hyundai has a 3ms grey-grey response, its beautiful. I do like CRTs still, my old Viewsonic is on my parents computer and doing fine. My desk and my eyes thank me for buying an LCD though

Its seems like gamers hate LCDs with a passion. They aren't that bad, and have improved so much in recent years. Ghosting is hardly a problem like it was. I do agree that CRTs are the better choice for resolution scaling though, since most people play games at 1024x768 unless they have a killer rig, the CRT will display the better image. But c'mon, you have to give LCDs a break. They are getting better as time goes and are very comparable to CRT image quality at the native resolution. The colors are so much more vibrant, plus I can tell that its easier on my eyes.

Again, talk to ISF calibrators that deal with these on a daily basis and ask them what the superior method is. I've had it demonstrated to me by one of the top 5 rated calibrators in the US in person. (as voted by peers) CRT still has the best picture, but is limited to 40".

It easily has the best picture. LCDs are a bit of a fad at them moment, useful for getting one more pc in every office in the world but that is it. I have a dual monitor setup with 2 17" CRTs and i have to say, i'd soo much rather have this than a single 15" LCD that i could have got with my £200 budget. Try to find anything that is worth using for £100 and you will get CRT every time. Plus, since like i hear LCD is cheaper to make, how can they suggest that you should pay more for them?? Its clearly a fad, in the same way people paid £2.50 for a set of 10 pieces of card when pokémon was around.

I would suggest Samsung 997df at max reso 1920x1440 @ 65 Hz
and recommened 1600x1200 @ 76 Hz. I have had one for 9months no problems and only good things. Picture is great.

Heres link http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16824001166
costs $219 on internet.
I got mine for $179 at Best Buy.

personally i quite like lcd's but only if you havent got that much space. they are good for gaming though if they have a low response time, or you will get ghosting

ive summed this up below

Gaming: get a nice, good quality crt

Lack of space: move the desk!!
