That would not be the problem.

There is nothing wrong with Biostar boards. The 890 board holds a world record for OC'ing. Mine works flawlessly and my son has a Biostar board as well. You probably want Cool and Quiet disabled. Other than that it could be a bad CPU.

i guess this is a bottom of the line Biostar board. theres no ACC no Cool n Quite and im not sure if you can overlock the bus from the motherboard, im thining it may a bad cpu because the multiplier would change on all the cores not just one right?? of is it possible to overclock just one or two cores on a quad cpu???

when overclocking a CPU does the wattage automatically go up with the clock speed??

Power (watts) goes up with voltage, not necessarily clock speed, I think.
