So i know there is a thread like this but i feel i should post my own so i dont hijack/ get specific responses to my specific needs. Im trying to build my friend a new pc, i generally go Intel, however i know amd sells some top notch processors for a great price.

heres what im looking at,

win 7 - Student discount $60

Case - old case i found in garage, will be cleaning up modding and painting

Power Supply - Not sure what a good budget PSU would be i know this is a very critical component and shouldnt be too cheap on it.


Please give me feed back and your ideas. he will be gaming alot and doing some rendering (for school).

other than that i really want him to get this hes using a 4 year old dell laptop that has integrated graphics and he lags out on lan with company of heroes he needs it.

Loods good! And that processor can unlock to a quad core too! For power supply's go with seasonic/corsair/enermax/antec or OCZ

It's an almost guaranteed X4.

In regards to the PSU, look at the new Antec TruePower New series.
