Why bother? For the huge power drain and heat generated and cost, just go with a 470 or a 480. Not to mention stability. Some games don't play nicely with SLI without problems, tri-sli can't be too stable.

Sorry but I think I will stay with xfx and nvidia until I can no longer which will be sooner than I would like. xfx will not be staying with nvidia so there will not be a 470 or 480 from xfx. I am running tri sli 3 x xfx gts 250 core editions and I am at 39c 1dle and 46c under load as for power drain i'll just buy a 1200 watt only need 1094 watt. cute cat. my girlfriend loves kittys.

At this point I would go with a dx11 card, other wise yeah at 1080p there would be a decent difference between 3xgts250 and 3xgtx285.

I think that your PSU would handle 3 280s fine.

Holy lack of grammar batman!
Just a little tip, make paragraphs/empty line so your post will be easier to read as opposed to staring at a wall of unorganised text.
And what's with all the XFX/OCZ? Trying to run a theme here?
I don't think you needed to list your rig, it's already in your signature.

Back on topic, first you might want to consider getting a quad core. 3 GPU setup is likely to bottleneck your Dual Core, and quite badly.
You might want to look at a 1000W or higher for PSU running that many cards, but your XFX Black Edition SHOULD be able to handle it, it has enough connectors anyway (6x 6pin PCI-E + 2x 8pin PCI-E if I'm not wrong).
And lastly, I don't think OCZ makes Blu-Ray/Combo Drives.

Wait! you are saying you love XFX so much you will stay with GTS 250s?

Not that 3 GTS 250s are anything but fast but that seems like a lame excuse. I'm also thinking you don't care about what DX11 will bring? Crysis 2 for example?

BTW 1 GTX 285 is quite a bit faster than a GTS 250. And the scaling in Tri-SLI should be similar between the 2 setups so 3 GTX 285s should feel quite a bit faster as well.
