Any i7 users switch to X6?

Before anyone tells me: "It's not worth the trouble".

I know already. Clock for clock performance, the i7 920/860 are similar to 1055/1090. Some may say one is better for certain things, ect ect. Please don't turn this into a flame war for Intel v. AMD.

I've personally preferred AMD CPUs over Intel CPUs. Last 2 setups have been Intel though with the C2D in 2007 and now the i7. I have a hankering to switch back to AMD though with the release of the X6s. I want to hear from the experiences of those who had i7s who might have switched to the X6, how has your overall experience with the platform been for stability, and OCing.

Yea most benchmarks I've seen have the i7 and even the i5 750 beating the x6 most of the time. I think video encoding is slightly better on the x6 though.

Yea, I would wait until more details of the Bulldozer emerge. By then it my be time to switch over to th 2011 socket that Intel is rolling out next year lolz. But honestly this is a pretty bad time to switch considering both AMD and Intel are coming out with new architecture. And besides, your 920 will be more than enough for anything for another year.

Why do you want to switch/upgrade?

if you feel like trying new hardware, go for it!

but if you are really looking for any sort of performance boost or something then I wouldnt.

I too thought about this, but then I realized I would have to spend a nice amount of time selling my i7 rig and that was the en of that.

Yeah, it's more for trying out new hardware than any real performance boosts.
That's mostly what is stopping me too. Having to sell Mobo/cpu/ram.

I owned an x6 1090T for one day and then returned it and bought my i7 because my friend with an i7 was dominating me in SLI 480 benches.

Like you I am an AMD fan at heart but if you ever plan on going xfire I'd stay i7 because I guarantee it will outperform the x6 1090T.

You might as well since you can.I swap hardware a lot too.You wouldn't catch me with the

same hardware a year later.Wish I could give you some input but some encouragement will have to do.

I ran a 4.4GHz HT ON 920 + e760 and decided to give the 1090T a try. I knew I would not see the performance I would if I had stuck with my 920 however I made the switch because I enjoy overclocking, whatever the platform is. Regardless you have to keep in mind that AMD is a whole different ballgame and its not necessarily a perfect apple to apple comparison to Intel.
