OP...you should just keep your i7 930...not much of upgrade.

you sure about that?
Last time i check..it wasnt quite what you describe...i believe if you can get the x6 to overclock well with good northbridge overclock and ram timing...you should be okay. my friends i7...you cant even tell the difference...its pretty much back and fourth...

New hardware is always fun. Just keep in mind you're downgrading.

I have one of each, but I had the i7 930 before I upgraded my 965 box to 1090t. Does that count?

Like you I am an AMD fan at heart but if you ever plan on going xfire I'd stay i7 because I guarantee it will outperform the x6 1090T.
Agreed.

I didn't switch - I own both an i7 920 and a 1090T (moneybags).... I'm pretty impressed at the X6's ability to give the 920 a run for it's money folding wise. Sure, it's $30 more and slower than the 920, but considering it's 200Mhz slower with 667 ram instead of the 1950MHz ram (never did make it to 2000 on the i7) I'm impressed.

I should clarify "200mhz slower" before the spam wars start - My 920 is clocked at 4GHz and my 1090T is clocked at 3.8GHz. Haven't been able to hit 4 stable with the 1090T but that's due to my case and airflow and heat and stock cooler bla bla bla I need another waterblock like the i7 has.

It's pretty outrageously fast for video encoding, I can do a 1080p bluray movie in about 5 hours now. However, the i7 is usually faster in a lot of applications because of the faster QPI and triple channel RAM.

It's pretty simple actually.

Bloomfield > Deneb
Thuban = Deneb + 2 cores
Therefore:
Bloomfield > Thuban

The extra cores don't matter if they aren't being used.

I doubt many i7 owners downgraded.

thuban has a better memory controller then the denab...and it overclocks higher then the denab. for my phenon x4 965, i couldnt get it pass 4.3 ghz...for benching...and with the thuban...i manage to get it to 4.48ghz for benching. both using same watercooling loop and setup.

hmm I was thinking of the same question

if I don't X-fire/SLI which would give me better performance? 1055T or i7 930?

the difference between both platforms is around 800-900HKD

lol this thread wins for most X6 owners with hardware-esteem issues.
