9800gt fan speed won't stay?

Thread Starter
I have a 9800gt & I set the default fan speed at 70% with rivatuner. It doesn't stay consistent though... I have to manually change it to 100% sometimes because when i game, the fan speed drops back to like 30% and then changes back to 100% when the temps rising 80C+. After im done gaming the fan speed stays at like 50%.... I have to manually set it back to 70% each time and it doesnt even stay sometimes. I have to do it like 10+ times for the fan speed not to revert back to 25%. Why does this happen? Is it because i have a dell comp? I tried EVGA fan speed software & i get the same problem.

Have you tried using a different program? Try msi afterburner and evga precision.

Also try setting fan speed to auto.

Are you overclocked? if so what are your settings?

I did try evga precision. Same thing.... I can't tick auto in rivatuner. That option is highlighted out.

try auto in evga precision.

Auto will monitor your temps for you and keep temps on mid 60s on load

Are you overclocked?
