What to do about LLC?

Hey guys, recently I read some where that LLC is VERY BAD for your CPU and can cause premature ejaculation of your chip.

The thing is, I disabled it and now I have had to pump my voltage up to like 1.39v to get it stable, it still runs at about the same temps so that's fine.

Question is, Should I just leave LLC enabled, or is my chip fine sitting close to 1.4v?

Your voltage don't look pretty, is it a C0 or a D0, oh, I have LLC on.

If you have low vcore voltage, it's fine to leave LLC on, as the offshoot won't push your vcore high enough for any chance of damage. But since you're already bordering 1.40 vcore, i'd leave LLC off, and just deal with the higher vcore usage at idle + higher ambient temps, along with the vdroop, if you want maximum CPU longevity.

Fair enough then, my chips only hitting a max of 73 Degrees anyways, should be fine I guess.

With LLC on I can get to 1.35.

i personally have used LLC for my everyday OC's since 45nm introduction
and have never had any problems.

whether you run with it on or off,the same amount of load
vcore for a given OC to be stable will be the same,so the load
temps will be the same.LLC on or off either way wont change
this.if you need 1.34v load to be totally stable at 4.2Ghz
wont change if you turn off LLC or vice versa

You know what, your right. Just redid my linx testing with and without LLC enabled. Actually dropped my temps. Wth. Must have changed the ambient temps somehow during my last test, damn. Sorry for the faulty info. dang.

LLC allows you to set what you want the full load voltage to be instead of the maximum peak voltage. It will still spike to the same levels with or without it on, it's just with it off you know what that peak voltage will be because it you have set it. With it on you just know what the under load voltage is.

As has been said though as long as you're not near the limits with it you should be ok. My personal view is that LLC basically provides an illusion, you can be happy with your nice low core voltage but basically you're in the same situation and have broken Intel spec. I can see both sides though and certainly wouldn't criticise those who want to use it. Just don't use it near the limits of the CPU because the overshoots will take you beyond spec voltages.

In addition to this being his personal view, it's also reality. LLC introduces a bunch of problems and provides no benefit other than the placebo effect of lying to yourself.
