Dell 2209WA or HD Monitor?

Thread Starter
I have been browsing through this forum and most of the reviews give excellent rating for the Dell 2209WA monitor. When I check the specs it says it lacks full-HD, HDMI.
Will it be a drawback when buying a new monitor?
Or should I go in for a Samsung 2333HD monitor?

My usage is mainly for browsing, programming and games.

I would think the new Dell u2211H would have a similiar price tag (can't remember the 2209WA's price, but with a coupon, the u211H is like $225 shipped) and it's 1920*1080 and IPS as well. Would be my recommendation.

Otherwise, I'd take a 1680*1050 IPS 2209WA over a 1920*1080 TN any day of the week.

Hi,
Thank you for your inputs.
I was going through the reviews of the new Dell u2211H and since it is new, could not find much with respect to customer satisfaction etc.
One review said there is some backlight bleeding and a bit of uneven tinting.
But whereas 2209WA has excellent reviews everywhere and I see no one complaining about it.
I am confused as to which one I should go for!!

The odds of getting a bad panel aren't that high. Unfortunatly, LG's quality control has been crap as of late, and since they make the panels, you get the tint issues. I'd still go for it, and if you do have issues, you can replace it till you get one with no issues.

If your really worried, you could look into the HP ZR22W, which is a little more expensive, but is also IPS, 22" 1080p.

Thank you for your replies.
I think I will go in for the Dell 2209WA Monitor. The newer Dell or Alienware is not available in my country yet.
