Just noticed this with my xbox360 resolutions?

Thread Starter
i was just trying to configure my Audio when I realized something weird with lcd resolutions. When I first hooked up my xbox 360 @ 1920*1080 which happens to be the highest setting my XBOX can put out. But the thing that is weird was that there was no black bars meaning the image was stretched to fit the full screen. So I then tried 1680*1050 and now there is black bars on the bottom. What is happening here? i am trying to get the sharpest image possible. But under the old setting of 1920*1080 i would think then that there would be black bars on the bottom. But there isn't. I know my monitor does not support per pixel mapping. So I would think that my LCD would stretch any xbox image to full screen?
Can someone help sort this out so I can get the sharpest resolution possible?
Cause even at 1680*1050 with black bars on the bottom, There isn't any on the sides. So the image must be stretched horizontal but no vertical?
Why is this so frustrating.

1920x1080 has a 16:9 display ratio. 1680x1050 has a 16:10 display ratio which is why it has black bars.

The sharpest resolution possible would be whatever you see as best. What display ratio is your standard rez for your TV? It should be 16:9, because 1920x1080 has no black bars. In 1050, you'll just have your games playing in more of a wide-screen format than at 1080.

I searched it, and ended up with:

1920x1200.

The games don't run in 16:10 which is why you have black bars. Your best bet is to stick with 1080p.
