No. The cores could be unstable/damaged. That's why they're are locked (not in all cases, some)

ok so i read what everyone said about the ram psu and board and remade my build
(im planning on running win 7)
(im getting the Western Digital Caviar Blue WD3200AAKS 320GB 7200 RPM 16MB because i have another drive just like it and plan on runing them in raid 0 if possible and what performance gain will i see if its in raid?)

here is what i have:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827106289

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811815002

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822136074

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817339009

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboD...t=Combo.406554

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboD...t=Combo.407373

im in the red $15.00 but i can live with that. rly hope those cores unlock!
again if anythings off or can be better without further raising the price anymore do tell.

I say go for the Athlon, it is a definite quad.

You shouldn't build a ... build around unlocking, that should be an advantage to already owning a qaud and wanting more performance
if he already owned a quad what cores would he be unlocking. lol as far as i know you can't unlock your quadcore chip into a hexacore lol

You misread his statement. He means that a quad would be a better option, than building around a dual core, in hopes that it would unlock.

$25 under your budget, if you dont count the MIR or promo gift card, which means you have more than enough left over if you want to buy a different CPU/RAM combo (there are several) or buy a bigger/better case

crossfire capable, comes with the first 5770, add a 2nd later at your leisure

$40 in MIRs and a $10 promo card make your final price like $526

i appreciate u doing this for me but
i dont think ill ever run crossfire jus upgrade to the next best card.
700w is a bit too much and i mentioned about the HD.
another thing i was wondering how does the 555be unlocked core compare to a normal Phenom II X4.
