another thing i was wondering how does the 555be unlocked core compare to a normal Phenom II X4.
you could swap out the motherboard, im not sure what else combos with that 5770 but im sure theres other options

that 700w might be more than you need, but at a $20 combo, its also super-cheap, and has a $20 MIR making it cost next to nothing, well worth it for a decent 700w

555be unlocked compares to a 955be IF your able to unlock both cores

alot of people are only able to run stable unlocks @ 3-cores, depends on the OC too, some people can OC 4 unlocked cores with great results, some people cant, sometimes you only get 3 cores and sometimes it doesnt work at all, its a slim chance you will get a full quad core thats able to hit good overclocks

That HEC probably isn't any better PSU than the first.Do not skimp on the psu.Get a cheaper processor or video card before you get a cheap psu. It's not just what the rated watts is,it's the qaulity of componants and construction inside. Here is a great cheap PSU

thats not that cheap, you can get a neo eco for less with the current promo code of 20% off
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-030-_-Product

but, the 700w OCZ ends up costing a mere $60, with a DVD burner being included in that price, and its a good PSU as well

Please don't use the HEC PSU you linked. The PSU is the heart of your system, you should consider getting something a little better IMO.

Spend at least $50 and grab something like Antec EW 430, Corsair 400W.

Oh, by the way, the BP430 that comes with the Antec 300 is not all that bad of a PSU either.

I'd rather a phenom BE dual than an Athlon... it'll still perform well in games, and it will overclock better too

I actually agree with this. IMO, your gonna benefit more from the extra cores than the L3 cache. Of course, its going to depend on application but more and more software is going to become multi-threaded to support more cores....

Bottom line is, for single and double threaded applications the dual core will be faster because of its L3 cache, other than that the X4 will be a overall faster CPU.

if he gets a 400w psu, that sorta ruins the the prospects of upgrading the rig, no crossfire, no bigger graphics card, your pretty much stuck with a 5750, 5770 if you dont do any OCing

also, like i said, the neo eco 520w antec is $65 - 20% making it $52 shipped

but, thats still $72 at least once you factor in a DVD burner, might as well spend the $8 more and get the OCZ 700w, after the $20 mir its gonna be far cheaper
