should i get theQ9400?

Thread Starter
My friend over at U.A.E only could find the Q9650 for 1275 352USD and the Q9400 for 214USD

I requested from him the Q9550 or the Q6600 but so far he didn't find them both

Anyway, what do you think of the Q9400? performance? OC potential?

If you have access to newegg.com all those chips are there and cheaper. the Q9550 is there too.

The q9400 seems fairly overclockable, although it has a low multiplier, x8 i believe. From what I have read its a good chip, performs great. The stock heatsink is crap though. As with the majority of intel heatsinks..

I have two problems

1- i live in Syria so no newegg shipping for me
2- My MB FSB support is 1333 so i am not to happy about any 1333FSB CPU since i won't be able to do any overclocking on it

thats why i asked my friend to check in other places for the Q6600 or the Q6700 G0 Steppings

What do you have access to over there? There are good 2600fsb mobos over here for $50.

I hear the Q6600 is a beast though.

I am trying not to change the MB so if my friend can find Q6600 or Q6700 i can take them to 3Ghz at least

Though one question, the FSB wall is due to the chipset or the CPU? meaning can i run my EP41 @ 1600FSB if my CPU supports it?

the mobo will have a max fsb, if the EP41's max is 1333, then no.

I found the Core i5 750 cheaper then the Q6600, and it is faster. But, if you do not want to buy a new motherboard...
