this is off of the first hit i got on google for crysis system requirements

Minimum system requirements
from Crytek and EA

OS - Windows XP or Windows Vista
Processor - 2.8 GHz or faster (XP) or 3.2 GHz or faster* (Vista)
Memory - 1.0 GB RAM (XP) or 1.5 GB RAM (Vista)
Video Card -256 MB**
Hard Drive - 12GB
Sound Card - DirectX 9.0c compatible

Recommended System Requirements
from Crytek and EA

OS - Windows XP / Vista
Processor - Intel Core 2 DUO @ 2.2GHz or AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+
Memory - 2.0 GB RAM
GPU - NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS/640 or similar

crysis 2 requirements are identical to the recommended hardware specs of crysis. so, the argument is still valid. can it run crysis AND crysis 2!

+1 hope for 12 threads.
I'd be screwed.

So when Crysis was released the best card they had was an 8800 Ultra, and the minimum requirement for Crysis 2 is a 8800GTS 640, (about 33% slower) now the best GPU we have now is a GTX 480, the 33% slower equivalent would be a a GTX 465, so the minimum requirements for Crysis 3 (if released in 2 years) would be a GTX 465.

CryEngine 3 development engine for the Crysis 2 ensures that the game looks similar irrespective the platform it is being played on whether it is PC or a thorough gaming console. The first edition sequel will require Intel Core 2 Duo (2.2GHz)/ AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ processor, 2GB of RAM and a graphics card that should be similar to a NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS variant.

Carl also mentioned that the game will come with better graphics even on PC despite the lowered system requirements.
look at bold.
it will look better on PC its been proven.
and maybe he means that to match console graphics you need that kind of hard ware. to make the game look better the recommended spec is probably a gtx 260 or 4870
so maybe the actual minimum spec is lower.

I just hope they don't dumb it down to far. that would be a serious, serious drag.

Here's to hoping it will look simply amazing and I'll be wanting a GTX 485, or a GTX 580 to play it. but will work great on my current 480 OC'd

The next series will probably be 6xx, 1xx is OEM stuff, 2xx is consumer, 3xx is OEM, 4xx is consumer, follow the pattern.

ITT: People butthurt because other people with lower PCs can move certain games.

I remember when the specs for Crysis 1 came out. They said about the same thing as they did here. It was NOTHING like they said.

Might as well buy your GTXRADEON 12 billion now, because it WILL be pretty hard to run.

Now console gamers won't be able to say they can play crysis 2 with max settings!
