advice for cooling my 470 gtx

Thread Starter
Ok i have a cooler master centurian 590 with one fan blowing in on the front, an exhaust fan in the back, a hyper 212 CPU fan with push/pull configuration and a top fan blowing DOWN towards it to give plenty of cool air for the CPU.

I just purchased a 470gtx and it warms pretty warm and overclocking it requires me to run the fan REALLY high in order to maintain any sort of decent temps (like, under 100c)

i have one usable side panel slot, should i try to feed more air in directly at the 470 gtx? i'm really bummed because i built my rig specifically with keeping it nice and cool in mind, but im still running into heat problems

any advice is appreciated!

If water is no option for you, I would go with some aftermarket cooler for that graphics card, but I dont know if there is already something available.

replace the stock TIM on the card, it might not solve your problem, but it will help. Also, create a custom fan profile using MSI Afterburner if you haven't.

Just use EVGA precision and set ur own profile on that. I can 't hear mine at 55% so I leave it at that 24/7. When I'm gaming I raise it to 70% and I still can't hear it over my other fans. (anything over 72% and its an airplane)

Sorry for double posting, wanted to make sure u see this.

At 70% fan speed, my GTX 470 gets up to 64-70*C with light games like MW2. If I play a more demanding game like L4D2 it goes up to 75*C. Anything that uses the GPU at ~100% tops it up at 80*C. Keep in mind my TV is heating up my room and my rig isn't the coolest, not to mention my ambient temps suck.

my card cooks at 70% fan speed, i have to go to 90% with any kind of overclock unless i want my rig to crash while gaming

well what are your temps exactly? and what's your OC at?

ok, its 72f ambient in my room, 46c idle at stock, 52c idle @ 700/1400/1800 - this is stable OC

running furmark it gets to just under 100c w/ fan at 75%

...how do i set a custom fan profile thing? is that an automatic thing where the fan ramps up depending on the temperature? or should i just do it via hotkeys?
