1300$ gaming build

Thread Starter
Hello all

Looking for some advice on how to spend my money.

Looking for a computer that is fast and games, and has good upgradability.

Already have a 320gb hard drive and i dont need monitor, os, or peripherals.

UPDATE:

So far I am looking for:

4gb RAM (speed doesnt really matter much) - looking for price ~ 100$, maybe a little less...

5970 2gb - looking for price ~ 600$

amd 965 or 1090t (undecided) - 170$ vs 300$...

That totals up to 870 with the 965 or 1k with the 1090t. that leaves 300-430$ for the motherboard, case, psu, cd drive and maybe ssd if it can be fit in or greatly increases gaming performance...

Updated OP. please look to it for changes.

decided i want 4gb ram, 5890, and a 1090t or 965 (whatever is better for gaming for the price... future gaming performance(next 1.5 years or so) is important)

That totals up to ~870$ w/ a 965 or 1000$ with the 1090t. That means i need to fit the rest of the computer parts into a 300/430$ budget.

also looking for a cpu cooler (H50 maybe?) that can put me in somewhere very close to 4ghz or higher.

You probably shouldn't get a 1090T if it only leaves you with $300 for the mobo, case, PSU, and optical drive...A 1055T should suffice ($200), which should leave you with $400 for the rest.

Gigabyte GA890FXA-UD5 -- $179.99
Antec 300 Steel ATX Mid-Tower Case -- $59.99
Antec TruePower New TP-750 PSU -- $129.95
ASUS Black DVD-ROM Drive -- $16.99

That's the best I could do.

EDIT: Just saw that you wanted a CPU cooler, too... -_-

Hold on, I'll work something out...

EDIT #2: Ok, I got something. Switch the mobo from the Gigabyte board to the Biostar TA890FXE and get the Scythe MUGEN 2 Rev. B from Superbiiz/eWiz. Don't forget to use the promo code GRAD15 (expires today). That should put you within budget.

100$ will suffice for the motherboard.

If you plan on overclocking and if you plan on not having to upgrade your mobo for as long as possible, I recommend you go 890FX, which currently isn't possible with $100. Anyway, I managed to get you a good CPU cooler that fits your budget. Check my previous post.

Also, I hope you know that getting a 5970 for around $600 is kind of hard unless you buy refurbished. The only retailer that sells it new for anything remotely close to $600 is Nowdirect for $608.70 and I have never heard of that place before...

Looks solid to me . Have fun with that build.

Actually, I would prefer this G.Skill RAM over that kit of OCZ Gold for only a couple dollars more. OCZ sticks seem to have plummeted in quality recently...G.Skill customer service is also pretty good. Very professional.

EDIT: STOP! DON'T PLACE THE ORDER! I just read that the 5970 will NOT fit in an Antec 300.
