SpeedFan question

So I was palying around more with it today, and I noticed for the first time a temp reading that I have no idea what it is for....and it is quite high.

It's listed as Temp3. Temp 1 is my mobo, and it's at 32c right now, running 2 Prime95s. Temp2 is my CPU, running at 62c (again, FULL load on both cores), and then Temp3 is shown as 117c!!!!!!

I can confirm my mobo and CPU temps with the PC Probe 2, but what is this Temp 3? Is it the Northbridge? Southbridge?

My HDs are both running at 32c as well.......

for me the third on is the PWM mosfet chips next to the socket, thats probably what that is....
download Everest and use it to compare all the temps with the ones in speedfan, everest will tell you which is which so you can rename them in speedfan.

you sound like your runnin hot, you need to invest in some good fans and maybe some little heatsinks for the PWM chips...

Cool, I'll download that now..........I was trying to see how to name the temps in Speedfan and couldn't find it........

Well, yeah, a LITTLE warm I know (that's OCd to 3.6Ghz though, not stock).....I think it's my case fans, trust me, the next time I get some free cash I am buying some higher CFM ones.........unless I win the lottery...............then I am building my dream case and going water

try something first. look on the panel and see if it is showing the 4 fan speeds. If so adjust the speed for #3 down to 35% or lower and see if the temp reading for #3 changes also. Mine is at -48 right now...i'd say some kind of error.

Ok, well, Eevrrest doesn't show any temp that matches that one. It doesn't show the GPU temp as it's a trial version, but I can confirm my GPU temp with the NVIDIA software and it shows it's at 42c........that's all it has, the mobo, CPU, GPU, and GPU ambient and the 2 hard-drives......

Any more ideas????

LOL

Don't worry the 3rd temp is just misread by speed fan

the only fan speeds it shows are CPU0 Fan, Aux0 Fan, and Aux1 Fan. the Aux0 is my PSU fan as speeds match in PC Probe2, and the Aux1 is my front case fan. CPU0 is, of course, my CPU fan.
