on topic: grub is kinda annoying so disable it somehow.
Just because that turtle neck wearing stiff says so, doesn't make it so. A TOS (terms of service) or EULA (end user licensing agreement) is not a legal document. If someone were to construct them and sell them, that's another story.
Grub is much, much better than the windows boot manager. I'd personally stick with grub. For one, I'm fairly certain the windows one won't even recognize a linux filesystem.
What are you having trouble with?
Partition your drive into two parts. This is easy to do if you burn gparted to a disk. Install windows on the second partition. Then install Ubuntu on the first one. When it prompts you if you want it to install grub, or a boot manager, say yes, and put it in the MBR. I don't know how Ubuntu handles it, but there should be a default install option. If you don't want to manually make a / and swap, just choose that option.
