[THINQ] BIOS will be dead in three years

It's the one major part of the PC that's still reminiscent of the PC's primordial, text-based beginnings, but the familiarly-clunky BIOS could soon be on its deathbed, according to MSI. The motherboard maker says it's now making a big shift towards point and click UEFI systems, and it's all going to kick off at the end of this year.

MSI isn't big enough to push the industry.... Even Intel isn't....

Asustek or Gigabyte need to make the complete move.
Once again...

UEFI (universal extensible firmware interface) is a continuation of Intel's original EFI project, which was designed to replace the BIOS with a user-friendly point-and-click interface, as well as addressing many other troublesome areas of the PC's legacy.
Does this mean my "bios" will BSOD?

Why does everything need to put their 2c and say something is going to die? Like PC Gaming, etc.? Shoot, PS/2 ports are finally disappearing from motherboards. :/

I miss my MSI 790fx board that would quick boot, it was almost like having no BIOS at all.

I bet it's got to do with familiarity with BIOS and complexity of UEFI. UEFI more or less adds an additional layer between the hardware and the software by having some sort of graphical representation rather than simple text input/output controls, and when changing something on the BIOS level,it seems like simplicity is better and more reliable, almost like when we were switching from mechanical distributors to electronic control in cars.

At least that's what I think people would be concerned about in going UEFI over BIOS. Of course, I'm probably just projecting.
