Correct. From hong kong. Only paid 100 shipped for it so I am not at a terrible loss if it turns out to be fake.

Honesly I haven't seen many ATI processors, but all of the ones I have seen say ATI on it. That being said there is really a poteinal that some small crappy company got their hold on some cheap 3850 chips and created their own PCB board with DDR2 ram. Wouldn't CPU-Z show the difference between GDDR2 and DDR2? I say it's a rip off video card, but probably is a correct processor. Like buying a reference video 4890 video card and getting one of those XFX 4890 that didn't perform to 4890 levels.

OMG look at how they cliped the metal around the power supply connector. A 12 year old could do better. That is such crap. http://www.aliexpress.com/product-gs...olesalers.html

Probably. I am just going to toss a legit 3850 heatsink on it. Should keep it super cool compared to the crap of a heatsink on it now lol

EDIT: I bought it about 6 months back lol didnt seem like a bad price at the time.

Looks like the card is fine, just a cheaper non-reference design. But honestly, $100? LOL
post #26 of 65
$100? As in, $100 US dollars? Ouch. I sold my 4850 four months ago for $80. Heck, my Radeon 4890 when I bought it at the same time was only $160; I figured you had paid $100 HK-dollars.

Here's an image of the reference design 3850 (link courtesy of LegitReviews). It appears your card has been modified from reference design; it appears to me that it might have cheaper VRMs, and it does appear that the reference 3850 coller did cool the RAM and VRMs similar to the Radeon 4850 design.

EDIT: Here's a second picture, equally important:

That's the RV670 die of the Radeon 3850. Notice the numbering codes are completely different than yours? I think it's time to give us a GPU-Z screenshot; something seems fishy here.

Wow so scratch that idea of throwing a legit 3850 cooler on it. Looks like im stuck with sheet metal badness.

Why would you buy a 3850 for 100 bucks?

a 3870x2 can be had for that.
