Moddable GTX465's Purchase Locations Thread - Page 4

I guess I should probably clear myself up here.

When I mentioned about the 10 ram chips as being a "bonus" to have, I assume that at the very least, even if someone has the 8-chip version of the card, the cores could still be able to unlock. Whether someone has the 8 or 10-chip version [at least to me] is irrelevant, though unlocking the full amount of memory and memory buffer, at least to me, would be a bonus. The whole concept of getting a 470 for dollars less is gold to me.

With that being said...

If you do get a 10 DRAM chip board, good for you.
I can't tell since your system isn't on your sig or profile, but do you have a GTX465? Did you get the 8-chip or 10-chip version? Did you actually try this and it didn't work?

At the end of the day, I'm not truly going to purchase this card for the mere sake of unlocking its potential if it isn't possible. I just simply want a DirectX 11 upgrade for the best price I can get [preferably under 300 bucks]. Though if NVIDIA got lazy and one can actually pull an AMD trick on these cards, I say why not. It doesn't hurt to try.

Link.

Again, you can argue I don't go try drugs to know it's bad. I will stop here.

I bought two PNY GTX 465s from Tigerdirect (online) / CompUSA (local in-store) and they both have 10 memory chips and the GF100-275-A3 GPU. So OP can you please add this to the list:

-1st PNY GTX 465 purchased online at Tigerdirect.com, shipped from Naperville, IL warehouse.

Brand: PNY
Purchase Type: Online
Purchase Place: Tigerdirect
Purchase Location: Naperville, IL

-Second PNY GTX 465 purchased locally at same CompUSA/Tigerdirect warehouse in Naperville, IL (1 of Tigerdirect's online sales warehouse, other is in FL)

Brand: PNY
Purchase Type: In-store
Purchase Place: CompUSA
Purchase Location: Naperville, IL

I corrected my post, thanks RottenMutt for that lol.

Also I love how if you search PNY GTX 470s on ebay they are selling for over $300, while the people aware of this disguise will be getting theirs for WAYY cheaper... Like me who got it for $194 shipped new off ebay . Seriously though, keep an eye out on ebay for PNY 465s. It seems to me the GTX 470s and 480s due to their popularity are getting majority of the sales so the 465s are being sold wayyyy underprice. Now's the time grab these *****s!!

The above thread suggest that if you are missing the surface mount resistors on the back side you defiantly do not have a 10 chip card, if you do the memory chips may still be missing, so it is not a guarantee that you got 10 chip card, just that it isn't.

Brand: PNY
Purchase Type:In-store
Purchase Place:Frys
Purchase Location:Arlington, TX

I got a pny at fry's and it is indeed a 10 chip card. I flashed with the gtx470.rom bios, I had to increase the voltage .05 to get it stable. Will eventually like to try with a real pny gtx470 bios. I didn't try setting the memory back to 800 MHz.

Ok, so I just went to Microcenter here locally. I picked up two PNY GTX465's and got them to match the Tiger Direct/Compusa deal, basically making them $246.88 before tax. Got them back to work and popped them apart, sure enough they have 10 chips and the GF100-275-A3 GPU, so it looks like I just got two GTX470's for $493 before tax, not bad. I will be flashing them tonight and seeing what they will do. Not sure what they will clock too, but they should be decent.

I will get pics tonight after work, but for now:

Just recieved my PNY 465 from an ebay seller.

Aside for the seller taking like 8 days to get it to me, and it not being new (opened and not packed well) it does indeed have the 275-A3 core.

Don't know if it has 10 chips or not, but I'd say the chances are in my favor.

Now I just hope it works.

Just count the number of chips to be sure...

So is it safe to say all PNY gtx 465's have the 10 IC's which can be unlocked? I'm really considering purchasing one, but I'm scared to order online and get a card I can't unlock.
