When I ran the tweak for the first time, I had to restart a couple a times and let the system idle overnight to get the best performance(this was with my vertex by the way).

lol...nice...obviously one of the tweaks didn't agree with Crystaldisk. There are manual tweaks that the automatic one derives from. You can easily backtrack some or all of them and apply 1 at a time to see what gets you the best benchmark result. In general I don't wholly trust what benchmarks say because they do vary quite often just from a simple reboot...which reminds me...did you reboot after the tweaks?

In general the tweaks help your computer run smoother/faster despite what the benchmark may say.

Maybe I just need to let this thing sit for awhile...

Yeah I rebooted a few times actually, and while I know it's real world performance that matters, it's still nice to know that my drive is running like it (hopefully) should be.

I'll just have to look more into it.

How exactly does that work when you do that? Do you install it in a computer as a secondary drive or in an external enclosure to extract the image on it? Then install it in the intended computer?

You can create the image while on any running OS. It could be from the drive you want to clone or a boot CD.

Create an image from the drive you want to clone. Copy over that image over the SSD. When that is finished, you just restart the computer and boot from the SSD.

You still have to disable Superfetch, indexing, etc. afterward though.

Make sure to check the sector offset/alignment. If the offset is 63-bytes instead of 64-bytes, the drives performance will be hurt..
Once again...
