Wireless network slow when I connect?

Thread Starter
I'm visiting home, and my father's network is slowed to a crawl whenever I connect with my laptop. I can connect, but everything takes 1+ minute to load, if it loads at all. I've tried connecting via both DCHP and a static IP, and the router is configured properly and everything so it should be working... Last time I came I didn't have this problem, and I haven't changed anything since. I'm out of ideas. Would it be worth reinstalling Windows?

Cheers & thanks in advance.

My dad did (he's possessive about his stuff...). It's a Lynksis WRVS4400N.

Yeah, the connection was fast and strong, the internet just wasn't moving. Couldn't log in through AIM or Steam either. I believe it was somewhere around 500K received and 800K sent or so (sorry don't know the unit).
