BFBC2 Question.

Hey guys..Im new here. So dont mind the noob questions. anyways,

I just realise that BFBC2 Runs smooth on Dx9 rather then dx11. I thought it has something to do with My computer but after some research, i find that many people are having the same problem too especially those with Windows 7 64bit.

What are the possibilities? Im running a HD4850 Iceq4 Turbo which can only support up to dx10. Is it because i ran the game on Dx11 mode and my graphic card cant stand it? Will getting a DX11 supported gc like (5xxx series) helps?

I heard there are no difference in the game graphic between dx11 and 9.. So is it me or is the game that is not well optimized.? I can run Battlefield MW2 on maximum settings without any fps lag btw.

Not much difference other then shadows and a few other stuff between dx11 and dx9. I didn't even know you were able to run dx11 without it crashing without having the right card but if you don't it probably won't work that well.

I didn't know activision and dice teamed up to make that yet.

Yea i can continue playing it on dx11 mode for hours without it crashing. The fps lag is not that bad.. its not jerky.. Just dont feel smooth. Wow Dejavu

If you don't have DX11 capable card and you set dxversion to 11 in config file game will switch to a highest available version, which would be 10 in this case.

DX11 is a bit of a last minute gimmick in BC2 anyways that was added prior to release, some better shadows with a significant fps tax.

I took two in-game screenshots looking at the exact same place. 1 with Dx9 and 11. Did a side by side comparison.. no difference ._.

wow. people are pretty misinformed.

dx9 was added for legacy support. feature battlefield games from dice will nont support dx 9 any more.

dx 10 and 11 are both what the game was developed under. visually dx 9, 10, and 11 are identical minus a few things. dx 9 shadows are terrible because it doesnt support that kind of lighting, also dx 9 doesnt support AA. Also particle effects are slightly worse, but not noticible to the naked eye. Dx 10 and 11 are visually identical other than shadows, dx11 shadows have blended edges. DX11 was added for performance enhancements. In most cases dx11 with have better fps than dx9, while looking much better.

to sum things up, your computer is running dx10, which is fairly taxing on any gpu, dx11 is a huge improvement to code base and runs as fast as dx9 in most cases, if not faster.

Also, Bad company 2 processes all audio on the cpu. which is why the game sounds better than any other fps out there. That is why dual core is the minimum requirements. a 3rd core and even a 4th has major improvements for framerates.

The engine is being built for future technology on the pc.

Agree with you on that.. No wonder the shadows looks pretty ugly.. But i didnt notice it until i read your post haha. But i dont really care about shadows. As for the AA, i dont really notice it because of my resolution.. unless i look very closely.
