Attach the HD to another PSU if you have one...take a strong magnet and drop it on the top of the HD while its running, causes massive head crashes.

as soon as you loosen the seal breaks after loosening the screws and air gets inside i believe it already has ruined the drive.

Hard Drives are air tight. In fact it has air holes in which it uses to "Breath" they do how ever have very large filters to avoid any harmful dust from entering. It can deal with the tiny stuff.
