Should i sell my 8800GT?

Thread Starter
so i bought this back in 2008 and i was wondering if i should sell my bfg 8800gt oc2. If so what price should i look to sell it at and what should i replace it with? i don't mind getting ati or nvidia as long as its value for money. My budget would be about 200 poundish.

I am in a similar boat. I have the same exact card as you. According to what people told me these cards are still worth $60-80 USD. Thats not bad for some really old components. 5850 appears to be the best bang for the buck at the moment. Crackzattic speaks the truth.

Well, 8800s are still valuable, and probably will be for a while.
As far as an upgrade goes, on the Nvidia gt260 is the minimum to consider getting, the 250 would be only a tiny step up from any good 8800.
As far as ATI? The 5770 is a better card than your current one by enough to matter. But the 5850 is a better choice, and inside your budget by about 20 quid.

I'm still rocking the 8800gt

What games are you trying to play that you are having trouble with?

Sell it for $50-$80 and get a 5850. If you fold, don't sell it and get a 5850.

Well, you really need to have 35 Rep to ask how much (Appraisal), but the 5770 was a HUGE step up from my 8800GT. Now I'll be getting another ASAP and have the best "bang-for-your-buck" X-fire scaling available.

I was in the same boat last month. I had my 8800gt for almost 2 years, and still served me well til the day I sold it. It ran games fine, but I felt like it was bottlenecking me on my current rig, so I sold it for $67 and got a 5850. Felt like a great upgrade, and I'm planning to add another 5850.

The 8800GT is possibly the best card Nvidia came up with. It's so good it still commands a good price. It's not hard to get $80 for a good one (like a Zotac AMP). They produce a lot of points for F@H/per watt and in general game well enough for the price. You'd be hard pressed to buy a new card for $80 that even comes close.
