Help - MSI 5850 dual monitors?

Thread Starter
I bought a MSI 5850 gfx card for my new system, and didn't pay attention when ordering it and it only has 1 dvi connector. I need dual monitor support.

It also has an HDMI and Display Port output - which one of these would be better to hook up my second monitor (which is DSub).

I guess I need either an HDMI-DVI adapter, or display port to DVI adapter, but I'm not sure which would work best.

And yeah, I know a second 5850 would solve this problem too, but unfortunately that's not in the budget right now.

Display port to DVI

HDMI to DVI

Whatever you choose, you can buy a displayport to dvi adpter, hdmi to dvi adapter, or just a hdmi to dvi cable.

OK, cool. I just didn't know if one interface was more reliable than the other.

And, I'm officially a moron. I didn't realize that my newer 24" monitor has an HDMI port on it. Never bothered to look because my old 8800gts card didn't support it. Doh!

Well, it's still a problem after all. When I use the HDMI cable directly to my 24" monitor, it displays in 1080p mode and I can't seem to get it to use the full 1920x1200 resolution. I did some searching, and it seems the only way is to use an HDMI-DVI cable, so I guess I'm back to that option.
