Single loop ($500), a few Q's... - Page 2

San Ace's are really hard to come by. If you can't find them there, try the for sale section here, or Ebay. I tried to find them, and it's really hard to find them. Panaflos have great performance as well, so they would be an acceptable replacement. If you're looking for the best rad fans tho, look at these. Best 25mm rad fans, and better than most 38mm rad fans due purely to the static pressure. They're kinda loud tho, but since you're gonna have them on a fan controller, that shouldn't be too much of a problem.
As far as the drop in current, the psu will handle it just fine...it's got x watts of power. I've got a 620w psu, and it supplies my rig just fine. Honestly, as long as you have anything better than mine, you'll be just fine-you shouldn't WC with a crappy psu. Just look at the spec sheets for the respective fans you decide to get, and it should have a power consumption spec of x Amps. Make sure that your fan controller can handle y amps going through it, where y=(number of fans)*x. The fans that I provided the link for are a tad heavy on the power consumption, so you may only be able to put one fan on each channel...just don't skimp on your fan controller, and you should be fine daisy chaining them.

so if i was to get these

http://www.dazmode.com/store/index.p...roducts_id=318

and run them on a lamptron FC-5 (http://www.lamptron.com/products/vie...Controller_FC5), how many could i run on a channel? on dazmode it says that the fan takes 7.32 watts so i should be able to run 3 of them on one channel for a total of 21.96 watts? but whats this about current rating, i cant find any specs on the controller about current rating...and my psu should be good (corsair 850HX). thanks for the info.

On the link you provided for the fans, it says they draw .61A each. This conversion requires a little more effort. Power (W)=Voltage*Current(I, measured in amps A). So the power consumption on each fan is 12*.61= 7.32W. The lamptron controller is good on up to 30 W on each channel, so you should be fine with up to 4 of those fans on one channel.
If you could +rep me, that would be appreciated

Sweet thanks, i just needed to sort out how the different measurements related to each other and you answered it perfectly. Rep for sure..i just have to figure out how to rep now...lol.

I think im ready to order!

lol ya i wasnt logged on when i was looking for it so the rep+ didnt show...somewhat sad actually.

anyways, theres one other thing i was wondering about, if i ran 3 of those san aces on one channel, daisy chaining them toghether, would the drop in current affect the watts each one is getting so they would actuallly run slower at 12v? would i need to put it higher than 12v to get their rated performance?

@ 12V each fan would receive the same current (measured in watts/amps) they would run at full speed IF the fan controller can provide enough power without blowing up. Most fan controllers are rated for at least 20-watts per channel. Higher end is 30-watts per channel.

that being said,
You DO NOT need 100+ cfm san aces to cool your CPU. It's a total overkill scenareo and you'll find yourself frustrated that you can't get your fans quiet enough for normal computing.

As stated, I am running 3 gentle typhoons @ 1000-1300 rpm on my system's 360mm radiator with motherboard, CPU, and GPU in the loop without a problem.

If you're spending $400+, why in the world would you want a noisy water cooling system?

You can easily do an 800rpm fan setup on a more low-speed-fan efficient radiator for CPU only performance and $400-$500 is a waste for waste cooling ONLY the CPU.
