Is lack if TRIM really that big of a deal?

I'm about to upgrade to SSD's (not my sig rig) on some XP based machines, and I would like to ask my fellow OCN'ers how much of a deal is TRIM?

I mean, I heard that after a while without TRIM the drive would stutter and whatnot, but how bad is it really? Can it become unusable?

FYI im looking to get OCZ Vertex series 30GB.

here is a simple video to fix any problems without having trim in raid 0 as i am running raid 0 with 3 drives and know others who have been doing the same for awhile now.

It reduces performance, but you can always do this once a week I believe.

see video as it covers same thing except you don't have to do it all the time as diskkeeper pro is automatic as you use your pc.

Thanks for the replies. But I think my question was more geared towards: IF i dont do any of those thing, how bad would the performance degrade to?

Your drive has Garbage collection so it won't be that bad. However, over long periods... performance may degrade.
