Are you serious? Is this a normal form of "rational thought" for you?

Just... wow.

See what I find absolutely priceless is a US Interior Sectretary saying that BP should be made to pay for the lay off of workers at other oil companies due to the moratorium being placed on deep sea drilling

Based on that logic, maybe the US banks should be made to pay the rest of the world for the impressive **** up that was the recent financial crisis, I mean it all stemmed from the US mortgage markets............

Nope I didnt think so either

Just so people know, coz Obama doesnt, BP isnt called British Petroleum anymore, its simply BP and has been for a good many years now

So hows about people shut up about 'sue BP now RAAAAH!!!! Get 'em on Judge Judy she'll sort it!!!!'

Might make you feel better but that wont solve anything.

And the worst thing that will happen now isnt BP going under, its BP being bought out by someone else as the share price has dived

But President Obama should be aware that such a suspension of dividends would in effect deprive US savers of some $4bn of income per annum. Or to put it another way, in a world of global capitalism, Obama can't punish BP and expect all or even most of the pain to be felt in Britain

I don't like the name of the title, but it's youtube, it's embedded. What are you gonna to do?

Some people seem to have forgotten that BP isnt the only culprit here, but I havent seen Obama talking on the news about giving the other companies hefty fines. Its all BP's fault apparantly.

My "cheap shot" was fairly true, although I will concede it was "cheap." This is just childish nonsense, and supports my point about how BP is to blame for everything.

Uh wut?

BP (a British corporation) causes a massive problem through negligent (at the least) conduct.

Your response is, BP shouldn't be responsible for repairing their negligent act.
The (United States) federal government should fix it.

I just don't know what to say in response to this.

What does the fact that its a British company have to do with anything?

And the fact that they "lied" about how much was leaking, the fact is they didnt know, nobody did, but every figure that was mentioned always had "estimated" before it.

I suppose the fact that several high ranking government officials/former officials have close affiliations with halliburton has nothing to do with the fact that they arent being crucified...

Britain is complaining a lot, bringing the stock down some. I plan to buy in 1-2 weeks.

They knew it was more than 1,000bpd gushing out. It was never a "leak".
They have had a HD video feed of it, that they chose not to share with anyone. Not to know it was greater than 1,000bpd would be incompetent beyond even BP standards.

The United States government should not pay one dime to clean up the negligent, perhaps grossly negligent or reckless act of a British Company. But you are correct. It really doesn't matter where the company is incorporated. If it were an American corporation I would feel the same way.
