Might as well get the 875k, they're both the same price. But 12 hrs to encode to mkv? That seems like a long time. Don't think it was anywhere near that with an i5. However, ripping the movie is all on the drive, and that takes around 2hrs for me. Ok, just re-read it and you game while doing this. No wonder it takes so long.

BTW, I went to MC yesterday and picked up an 875k. Been messing with it here and there since yesterday.

Do it, you WILL notice a huge difference from that Q6600 rig. It won't just be in-game, your system in general will seem extremely snappy compared to what you are on now.

you will need a new motherboard ram and cpu, but its so worth it. if you are wondering about a motherboard then what is your budget? you should see a 5-10% increase from the increase in ram speeds alone, then a further 15-25% increase on the cpu so i can say its worth it.

BTW i went from a Q6600 to my i5 rig, so i know there is a huuuuuge difference.

The extra $50+ isn't worth getting a 875k over a 860. Not even in the slightest bit worth it.

Where are you getting your information from? You can get both processor at microcenter for $200. The i7 875K is 2.93ghz stock compared to 2.8ghz, not to mention the unlocked multiplier.

Just because you have a i7 860 doesn't mean you should give people bad advice.
