Good advice spec, tried it out on an 8600 with less insulation (skipped the eraser & just used some liquid tape & armaflex) & worked much better, card is still alive but not sure about the mobo I was using. About 10 minutes in had an unexpected shutdown & debug leds weren't working & no POST.
Board was nice & dry but found a loose screw sitting on some caps & resistors, have to tear the rig down later & see if it goes again. Shoulda waited till I had more time, was rushing too much. If it's dead time to try a classy 4 way sli or a Rampage III extreme I guess. Hope my bloodrage is OK though...

GPU might have been what borked my MIIF.. seems something with PCI-E voltage and PLLv/FSBv are tied on this mobo.. stick in GPU that takes power from PCI-E = FSBv @ 1.8v and PLL of 3v !!

I finally had time to DICE my chip last night, horrible luck. This Giga board I hit a FSB wall on at 470x9 that I couldn't break it, had to back down to around a 450x9 to even get stable.

I thought I'd run this E8400 up to 5+ and then bench the card, I've never had a E8*** chip that wouldn't hit 5+ in 15 minutes or so. But I couldn't get past the wall at well over a 1.6 v-core. This chip is a dog it took 1.4 v-core to hit 4.5 on my DFI before that board bricked on me and that was with a stock HSF, I was thinking around 1.5v for a 5g with it.

3 hours fighting the CPU OC and I was out of DICE for the GPU slush-box, so this is my crap score, long story short ... Didn't even enter it, didn't even get to kill the GPU, I didn't see any need to kill the board for a 4.1 on the CPU run.

All I can say other then "boodie hodie hodie who" is next month look out...... It was fun though that's the first GPU I've volt modded or even OC'ed.

Best of luck to you all still in the race!

I got a better score then that when I was playing around with a HSF on it,

Then the slush-box, I had my NB tube down in it for DICE then I was going to pack the cooler with ice and I had a larger cooler all that would of gone into with ice.

To bad on the CPU OC. You'll just have to kill that little card some other day.

Liking the slush box.

Yeah that was kind of disappointing, I shouldn't of waited till the last minute to run it, but I didn't dream I'd have a problem hitting a 5 on DICE with it.

I bet the bucket would of worked out OK, I'd of pulled the fan off the core and wrapped all that up in a blanket. I've got the copper to make a GPU pot so I don't know if I'll need it next time or not.

Like you say I can kill it another day! Hey at least I had an excuse to drink a lot of beer last night.
