It could be the router settings for torrents, I would check your firewall and port forwarding settings, your ISP could also be blocking your connection when you try to torrent, due to file content or other markers of the connection, I would first check port forwarding and the firewall settings.

Turn down the max allowed connection in your bittorrent client, and cap your upload bandwidth.

yep, also some routers will crash if too many connections
upload and downloads matter, you i usually would aim for under 70 total connections.
and dont allow queuing for upload slots. this can make some silly network traffic

Bittorrent clients automatically limit connections to about 10 or 20 or so. They also limit the Upload to I believe a ratio of 90% or more of the download speed, I would check ports first, as my router gave me fits with wrong port forwarding.

Most limit downloads and uploads to 10 or 20.

The default number of connections is usually much higher; often ten times as much.

Would the "max half open" connections have anything to do with this? under advanced settings
A port problem is my 1st guess though like some have said.
But it could also be a tracker issue. Have you tried torrents from a different tracker?

i fowarded the right port and it seems to be working ok now, the weird thing is it was working fine yesterday when i was told to change my UDP and TCP timeout to 120 and they worked fine for the rest of the day, then it stopped working till i changed the port, so im really confused as to wat is actualy happening. As such i tuned all my bandwith torrent connections down and ill see how out goes, thanks guys for the replies, hugely appreciated
