Clicking Noise Nonstop

Thread Starter
Every couple of minutes the computer speakers will have a clicking sound. It's the same sound from Windows you get when, say, you used to click a link. It's that tapping system sound. Not sure how to describe it.

I can have nothing on my screen, not touched the computer, and like in the middle of the night you'll get a loud click while Im in bed. It scares the life outta me if I have the speakers turned up loud.

It has to be either something in Windows or a background process. Im just not sure what.

Definitely a background process, maybe even spy-ware or a virus. download super anti spyware (google it) and run the scan. Pretty sure it will find something.

random oddities?

definitely look into errors/virus.

i'd check registry for anything funky (ccleaner or tune up utilities).
